zigzag Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Oh lucky you sunnyday we don't finish until Wednesday next week. Never mind, having lots of fun with the children and staff and looking forward to our beach morning next week. Enjoy some time off before starting on the TDL! 2 Quote
Froglet Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Sunnyday, enjoy your time off with Mr S - there will be plenty of time for tackling the TDL and you've been working hard on it already. I finish next Tuesday and am struggling so much. I am so very tired and the 'must do before the end of term' TDL seems endless - people keep adding to it! Still, at least I can count down in days now. 1 Quote
Froglet Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Ok, wish me luck - I am going to bed now and am going to get up at an unearthly hour tomorrow to try to sort some assessment stuff. Quote
zigzag Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Anyone watching the news tonight, the Cornish village of Coverack that was hit by the flash flood today is where we are having our beach morning on Tuesday! We are only a mile away and it was a truly terrible storm. It has wrecked havoc on the village. Quote

Zigzag, watching it on the news - frightening stuff - the locals sound very positive about getting everything back up and running, business as usual, I do hope they are able to - road in the area sounds like it will be more difficult to get fixed. Wishing you the best for your outing Quote

Wishing you the best for your outing I was also so impressed with the positive attitude shown by the locals, I hope that they get some sensible help. Wat will you do about your beach morning zigzag - can you still go ahead? Have had a nice morning - visited an out of town shopping centre type place - saved a fortune in 'Home Bargains' and then blew what I had saved in 'M & S Food Hall' Gardening now for the rest of the day - oh and dog walking, we have Alfie staying with us again - lovely boy that he is :1b Not so great is that I am also responsible for chickens, ducks and cats - no getting into my pjs early for me for the next fortnight as I will have to wait for darkness to put the chooks and quackers away Quote
zigzag Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 (edited) Well my son has been down there in his Coastguard capacity this morning and it sounds like everyone is pulling together to complete the clean up. It's the main road into the village which is the problem as the road is completely impassable and the only other way is is very narrow and windy. Coverack has an incredible community with a great spirit and relies on tourism as its income, so it will get up and running quickly(I hope). A few of my families live there and were flooded and couldn't get to school today. Just waiting for my other son to come home who works at the water sports centre down there to see what it's like at the harbour end. Hopefully not to bad. Looks like we will be doing a forest school morning next week instead! Edited July 19, 2017 by zigzag 4 Quote
louby loo Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 FINISHED !!..... ::1a ::1a Didn't think we'd make it to the end of the year at one point - but we did  I'm now waiting for everyone's summer TDL to appear (so I can blatantly nick ideas/forgotten things) ::1a Apologies to any full year settings- but we are a full pack-away each day so we are allowed a small gloat at end of year. xxx 7 Quote

zigzag Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 So jealous, we are going until Wednesday! Children dropping like flies with a multitude of illnesses and staff very, very tired. Weird year this year and the staff and committee are looking forward to a new year in September, but after a good summer break. Mind you with the awful weather we are having, I use the term summer loosely! Happy holidays to all who have broken up. 1 Quote
Froglet Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 zigzag, one of my colleagues is due to be heading there for a holiday in a couple of weeks. I hope they can get things sorted soon; flash floods are scary. Today/this weekend I am desperately going to be working on the 'must do before the end of term' TDL. I also really want to try and restore a little order to the house (although that might be the entire summer's work!). I have an afternoon tea at my student's house which she's put on as a thank you to the school. I also need to get my act together and sort out thank you/end of year presents for helpers/TAs and other people at school. Quote
finleysmaid Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Well the end of term has arrived for us..thank goodness! 6 months of running under staffed and adding after school club has meant i have 10 hours on the floor and then come home to seemingly endless government reports about 30 hours!!! I have enough chocolates to feed the third world! (if anyone has a good idea of who i could donate some too i would be very happy to do so...I've lost 1 and a half stones this year and my daughter has lost 4!!! so dont really want to eat them!!) have just opened one of my pressies to find a wonderful box of LUSH products including BEARD wash...not really sure what to make of that        anyone have a recommendation for that too  5 Quote
Conker Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Happy Holidays everyone! We too are a pack away setting so everything just got shoved .. and I mean shoved back in the cupboard yesterday with the promise of a sort out on our inset day in September. With one of the staff heard to say ' well we might just have an extra day on the holidays and wing it instead!' we shall see ::1a 2 Quote
