Inge Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) was just about to post about it ITV trailer from GMB watching the trailer, it seems to be what is observed daily in early years, but of course it is the privileged few who work in that environment that manage to see it daily. Will be nice to be able to just watch though rather than doing all the thinking that normally goes alongside that too! 1 Quote
Cait Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Zebedee just asked if there are any secrets left to uncover for us all? Are we just going to spend the evening shouting at the TV! At the very least, we are going to be sitting doing observations against EYFS statements and CoEL! 2 Quote
LKeyteach Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Spect there may be a twitter link. Why don't we bombard with dev matters statements & cowl as we watch. Might raise our profile! Quote
sunnyday Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Oh - thanks my little black and white furry friend! :1b 1 Quote
Mouseketeer Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Flagged it on FB page for parents to watch too....might educate them a bit Quote
thumperrabbit Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 4 ? Yes that's what I was thinking too! They're really tall and have great vocab!! 1 Quote
lashes2508 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Just said the same to OH , have switched back over to watch something else , bit miffed about the fact Cuba was not addressed for hitting when the opportunity arose ! Quote
Panders Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 4 ? I think we have to take on board that they are four until they are 5! Could anyone watch this and not shout out at the t.v.? Lovely nursery must have cost the earth to equip, doubt they run on £3.?? per child per hour 4 Quote
Mouseketeer Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I think the only thing 4 about a couple of them was their shoe size ;p 3 Quote
Panders Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 I think the only thing 4 about a couple of them was their shoe size ;p Mentioning no names - but did they have a "thing" for chocolate? 1 Quote
Mouseketeer Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 And they had massive cookies for snack time :0 Quote
Panders Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 I said to my OH, crikey if Ofsted walked in on those little treats - don't think they would be very impressed! Obviously all done for bribery or to get some kind of reaction from the children Quote
StrawberyTwirl Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) We have to recognise that this was a pretty false situation, at least two days of filming to cut and fit into an hour. Must have been endless amounts of planning 'situations' to create some of the snippets we saw. Maybe filmed in holidays or weekend. I was texting a colleague throughout, really good language was very evident!... Reception age me thinks... and maybe 4 at the start of filming, but very nearly 5?? Great environment, loved the bowl thing! In my experience the children that have left nursery, and then come back a year later, love it, engage so much more with the resources, really relish that opportunity to play freely. Didn't like the use of the word 'naughty' by Dr's! Edited February 10, 2015 by StrawberyTwirl 2 Quote
hali Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I wouldn't mind a nursery like that though B) B) B) B) B) 3 Quote
Froglet Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I always have to remind myself when watching things like this that we're not seeing it unedited! I often wish I really did have eyes everywhere to see all that I need to see! Quote
Cait Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Not watched it yet - hopefully it's taping. Zebedee watched an archeology thing and cleopatra, sigh. Smiley's people next, deep, sigh Quote
finleysmaid Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 socially not much difference between this and 10,000 bc me thinks!! 2 Quote
eyfs1966 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I must say I did enjoy it, but couldn't help but feel that these children were not just 4 as I see 4 year olds. Rather they reminded me of the nursery children on some of the Ofsted best practice videos that were released( remember the one with the treasure hunt?)....maybe 4 and 11 1/2 months, but not just 4.(ok, I know one was just 4, the rather charming chap in the hand knitted sweaters, but as for the rest...). I noticed that one of the children said "my school", not my nursery.. Also noticed that their staff ratio was rather generous! As said before, all that's not possible on funding for a 3 year old (certainly not where I live) Perhaps I'm just feeling inadequate.. 6 Quote
catma Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 They were possibly reception aged 4 yr olds. But still 4 nonetheless. Just like being in school, only with fewer children! Quote
twinthinguk Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 i spat my tea across the room when the little girl role playing on a telephone said " stop ringing me Richard! your not the dad! I don't love you anymore, I hate you!" lol also loved the " my cat will come and scratch your face off" from the non sharing girls rowing with the boys about the colour of their toilets whilst hogging the scooters lol but the cake boy looked alot older than 4! lol 2 Quote
Verona Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Looking forward to watching it - I recorded it. V Quote
Foreveryoung Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I watched it keeping all in perspective, it was a specially set up situation, 2 teachers to was it 10 children and it was about watching children's reactions as they figure life out. I absolutely loved it, I went to work this morning feeling a little refreshed Quote
beth1 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Still to watch this on catch up. Looking forward to it. Then Ive to watch btitans largest school (on tonight), so an hour or so of watching some interesting to. 1 Quote
Cait Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Well I watched it, but it didn't capture me. I was hoping for a more in depth commentary or analysis of behaviours from a socio-cultural perspective. What I got was what we see most days, children learning to share, squabbling, role play, greediness, and some dogged persistence! So, not so secret really! And yes, that big boy looked very close to five! Also, these were 'standard high end' children, I felt. Where were the strugglers to communicate, the introverted leg clingers? The tantrum door slammers? I suppose they don't make good tv on anything other than supernanny! 2 Quote
Mouseketeer Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I was hoping it was going to educate parents as to how independent their children were in self care as well....when they've finished fussing over them and doing everything for them at the door ;p 1 Quote
