blondie Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 for all of us that are term time only the end of the holidays are fast approaching - just wondered whether you did all the jobs you said you would what jobs you still HAVE to do  you are looking forward to going back  the weather is now wet and cold so at the moment going back doesn't seem such a bad idea lol Quote
SueJ Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Still loads of things to do including getting changes done to SEF and SEN stuff and fielding panicky phone calls which are now starting up from parents looking for spaces or forgetting what they have booked in for starting in September !!! 1 Quote
louby loo Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 More 'not done' than done if I'm honest. I have my reasons though..... but to be honest I am going into slight panic mode  When we go back we are quiet on two afternoons - my plan is to do all my 'to do' things then.... and therefore getting paid whilst doing it! xx 3 Quote
Froglet Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 If it makes you feel any better I haven't... responded to a behaviour document (but it was sent after the holidays had started) written my parents newsletter done my RE MTP (but that's only because someone else hasn't sent out the new curriculum map yet) written 5 action plans for different areas done a SIAMS review gone through and reviewed progress towards our anti-bullying award made various classroom resources re-thought my classroom layout (my mind was a blank then I decided I really needed to see how the new cohort used it before changing anything) plus about 20 other things! But, it is the holidays, I've been really busy doing work on the house or getting it ready so other people can work on it (plasterers arrive tomorrow!) and I am not going to feel guilty! I will probably regret it once school starts again and there doesn't seem to be time to breathe but I know it will get done because it will have to! 1 Quote
Panders Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I'm down to the old chestnuts now, SEF up date, Policy up-dates, Setting Improvement Plan and, therefore, Training. Catch up on new SEND and new Welfare Reqs. 1 Quote
Fredbear Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Well I can honestly say this is the first time I haven't spent any of the break working. I don't feel at all guilty about it either. Next week I shall go in with my batteries fully charged. 4 Quote
Guest Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Think you might have the right idea there Fredbear! I have done quite a bit but still have loads more to do...seems never ending! X Quote
eyfs1966 Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Well no prize for guessing that my "not yet even touched" project is (drum roll please.....) THE SEF!!!!!! I have forced myself to finish off the SEN stuff tonight..phew.. So far I have achieved quite a lot, but it would appear that a managers job is never, ever done. 1 Quote
Mouseketeer Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Is at the point where I might just punch the next person that says 'have you had a good holiday' ? They really are clueless....and it's even staff, they must think the b****y fairies come in and do everything :'( 4 Quote
Stargrower Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 We don't close over the summer (or any time other than Christmas) but I have a long to do list while we are quieter. Some of it done, most of it not. But I refuse to panic...we just keep plodding on. Quote
zigzag Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Have to say I hit the ground running for the first week of the holidays and got a lot done at school. Sadly in the second week my mum in law passed away, and things kind of ground to a stop. Found I could not really concentrate and kind of lost enthusiasm for a while in all things school. Trying really hard to get back to it now. Am dreading going back and that is not like me at all. My deputy has retired after fourteen years, my qualified assistant has got another job, which leaves only two of us who are qualified and two unqualified staff. We will run every morning with three staff so we fit the ratio's but if one of us qualified is ill, we will have to close. The girl who is taking on the deputy position is not really ready for it but there was nothing else we could do. Oh and on top of that I now have to take on the SENCO role which I have no experience of and am dreading. Feeling quite demoralised and swamped already and to top it all my sef is still sitting next to my computer waiting to be updated. Quote
sunnyday Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Oh zigzag - I am so sorry for your loss - sending a huge virtual hug to you xxx 1 Quote
SueJ Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Zigzag so sorry to hear of your loss - I hope when you actually start back you begin to feel a bit better about things - insofar as the SENCO stuff is concerned there are loads of knowledgeable people on here and we are all "starting from new" with the new code of practice too. If it helps my SEF is still waiting patiently for me to pander to it and I have no doubt that Sunnyday's is at the very bottom of her to do list 1 Quote
pporteus Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 This sounds really frivolous but, as one of the main characters in a popular hospital drama said on Saturday, when did this stop being part of my life and become my life...I'm really enjoying getting on top of things for my new age group and new room but I have to rely on my family to remind me that there is life beyond it all. 5 Quote

Fredbear Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 So sorry to hear of your loss zigzag. Fx I'm with you on that one Sunnyday, no SEF amended here either. But I have reached the point where I get done well what I need to, and the rest can wait.( well at least for a short while). The most important thing for me is to welcome all our families to pre-school and play, play, play. Quote

Panders Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 No wish to add anything to anyone's list but feel the need to ask if anyone has looked at changes to the Statutory Framework yet - some real bizarre changes I think, but I may be fooling myself! 1 Quote

Ooh - like what? Only glanced through and looked mainly at the list of changes that (Sue?) did. Quote
Mouseketeer Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 (edited) It was some of the 'removals' that made me think 'really', like no requirement to have or implement behaviour management policy, yet I read a report this morning that requires improvement because staff are not consistent in how they manage behaviour, I know it's not sept yet but that's really not going to help is it ? or no requirement to carry out regular staff appraisals ? ...must have a re-read Edited August 28, 2014 by Mouseketeer Quote

louby loo Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Exactly Mouseketeer, a bit weird! I may be totally wrong here, but I have the feeling that 'behaviour' now come under SEND? 1 Quote
Guest Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 To be honest - I kind of think that they are removed but inlcuded elsewhere!! Appraisals aren't mentioned but supporting staff development, training, etc, etc is which leads me straight back to supervisions/apprasials!!! Drives me more than a little crazy!! Quote
catma Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Feeling quite demoralised and swamped already and to top it all my sef is still sitting next to my computer waiting to be updated. Get down to Falmouth Tall Ships and have some fun instead my 'ansum. The SEF will be there another day. 2 Quote
catma Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Some of the removals are because they exist in other legislation. Quote
