  1. I hope all is ok xx
  2. I would find that upsetting 😪. We're surrounded by crops, which I always think is a bit boring- but I'm glad about that now.
  3. I have to admit I'm sooooo with you on this one 😂 I wear a pretty waiters apron (I think that's what they're called -shortish with big pockets)
  4. We send hard copies of our Safeguarding and Key-persons polices out with our starter packs.
  5. Have you got any parents that can sew? Lots of people have taken up sewing recently, and they are very easy to make and you can pick your own fabrics. (maybe suggest your chairperson has a go! 😁)
  6. So sad to hear these stories. Hope he continues to do well though xxxx
  7. Yay! to state pension 😁. Probably not that much between us ... but I still have a few years 😭. My husband is 6 weeks older than my brother, and because of all the phased changes my brother had to wait about 3 months longer to get his. I have decided to take a step back in September though. I think I've said before, but I'm the youngest in our 'age group' of friends- and they are all well and truly retired! I'm now going to take more time for myself now. My deputy has been a star during the last few months and is more than happy to take on more responsibilities.
  8. The 'tiredness' is what this mum commented on. Glad your family are all well on the way to full recovery xx
  9. Gosh Friday yet again 😳 We had our meeting and it was decided (with parent support) that we would remain closed now until September. I had hoped that maybe a few weeks would be good- so at least we had a trial run before September. We had confirmation this week that one of our families all had the virus back in February! Well I say 'had it' - at the time they were not offered any testing as it was to early, both children were quite ill, and the younger hospitalised twice, the parents were both quite mild symptoms, mum a couple of days, dad a week or so. 😟 The family have now been contacted and called in for anti-body testing. I think this has put it into perspective for a lot of our parents with regards of us re-opening a present. At the beginning we acted very quickly, as we knew there were cases quite local to us- and we were one of the first to stop parents entering the building (a few parents 'eye-rolled at the time) , and I am now glad we took the action so quickly. The whole family are absolutely fine now though 😁 I feel I need some normality if my life now, no longer am I just forgetting what day it is........ I'm beginning to forget what month we are in too! I hope all of our re-openers have had good weeks.

I actually read it as ideally you should have no more than 8 if possible - but it can go up to 16 maximum. We haven't reopened in the end, but my plan was one big group 16 with three staff- rather than 2 groups with 4 staff. We do have a massive hall though.
  11. It's good to hear positive stories. Well done to you and your team.
  12. I never actually got to even see it! We were hoping to apply for enough to cover our rent until the end of term. We haven't opened so not to much of an issue in the end I suppose.
  13. I think we all have the 'one' Ours - What sessions would you like? Her- Thursday Oh, that's the one day we haven't got ...... her- but that's the day I NEED! Sorry, you can have another- then go on the waiting list. her - ok, I'll have a think (plays in setting for about 20mins whilst thinking about it) So, have you decided which other sessions? ............ Her - yes, Thursday please In the end I just said well pay the admin fee and let us know what you want, and if a Thursdays comes up we'll tell you- she never paid. And every time a Thursday slot comes up we all have a giggle now!
  14. Well, the only thing I'm going to add is- my thining scissors were loaned to me by my friend who's a dog groomer (they were a brand new pair though!) They are for people who's hair grows outwards rather than downwards 😂😂
  15. Now that's a top tip! We are in a park and the cafe has just reopened..... maybe now is the right time for us to go back 😃
  16. My hairdresser told me to 'walk away from the thinning scissors...NOW!!!' 😂😂😂 We're having a meeting Monday about a possible reopening date. Not sure if it will happen or not. I'm thinking twice a week short sessions for the few that are interested, however if this mean paying full rent I'm not sure it can happen. What are everyone that has reopened 'top tips' please? Part of my offering the short sessions is also a bit of a trail run for how things might run in September. Have a lovely afternoon sunnyday x
  17. A craft kit for the children? Many years ago I made a Christmas card for my cousin- only it turns out the glue wasn't any good ..... anyway basically the card arrived in 'kit form' and my cousins children loved re-making it! My cousin even rang and thanked me for the unique fun card 😂 Little felt swing kits to make a bookmark or small purse. We sent home a 'spoon' recipe for biscuits in our busy bags and the children have loved making them and posting pictures on our face book page.
  18. What a lovely idea
  19. To be honest the online favourites is a bit of a nightmare at the moment, the problem at the beginning of lockdown I was booking slots on my account for my daughter too - now the favourites seems a mishmash of both mine and hers 😬. Things are better now booking slots, so hopefully I can sort my own favourites out now One of my leavers mum wants us to do a last day party!
  20. No shopping for me . The trouble with my online is, I like different each week 😵 I've spoken to all my new teachers - that's all they want. No transition documents wanted. I think they like the 'no written evidence' honest chats. September. Now this is my new stress point. I'm putting off writing to my new parents until next week. I have a horrid feeling Bojo & Co may come up with a delayed start for reception - which would free-up more short-term room for primary. Maybe until Jan ?
  21. Hope everyones had a good week. I've been out delivering bags for the children.... I'm exhausted, but it is nice seeing and talking to our families I'm about to do my online shop, even though I hate actually going to the supermarket at the best of times- it's defiantly quicker than doing it online. In normal times I could easily do a weeks shop within around 25mins (then I don't need to validate my parking- that's my main goal!). Online takes me about an hour 😩
  22. I haven't been to a shop since before lockdown. I hear horror stories about out local M & S, but told Tesco is organised well. I have to really force myself to go supermarket shopping at the best of times, so I'm more than happy not going. I have been to Bookers twice and I'm impressed with their organisation We had to drive through our main town yesterday, and we both said it looked like a shanty town- very busy with people, but lot of shops boarded up/closed/shuttered with only fast food and takeaway coffee shops open. Lots of traffic, and all high street parking full. Looked surreal. I've been into work a few times with staff to sort things for children to do, so I'm partly over that worry now.
  23. We did a leavers bag and a younger bag. The leavers was mainly transition type bits- usually this half of term we would be working on 'All About Me' type booklets to pass onto school (our schools don't actually like the formal transition documents from the LA 😂). We've gone against the grain this year - and I've actually printed off work books from Twinkle 🙀 for parents to do with the children. Set set of coloured pencils , a few scavenger hunts.... that type of thing. Information for parents to about what the children need to be able to do independence wise. Note: when I say workbook - it is more - A drawing of- me, my family, my favourite things etc and not actually 'work' The Youngers had a book each (curtesy of The Booktrust ) and a packets of sunflowers seeds (home grown from last year) asking them to plant and bring a photo back in September. The book was 'My Pet Star' -so we added a star to decorate and make own pet, recipe for a star biscuit ..... and again bits from Twinkle Them we added bits of collage type bits and card to make a Father's Day card. Having paid for Twinkle I was getting my money's worth! Usually I am against the printed fodder type things, but this year is defiantly different.
  24. To be honest I think a lot of people don't actually follow whats going on at all. We've not opened so far (very low uptake not financially viable), we've been out delivering busy bags this week etc- one of the 3 parents that wanted to come back asked if we would still be having our end of year party this year.... even if it's for one big party for them on what would have been their/our last day!
  25. All our profit seems to go into reserves for redundancies at the moment. ALTHOUGH we were actually hoping to buy a nice role-play kitchen this year - that one's on the back-boiler again now x I alway pick the wrong option when phoning the HMRC- then get sent back to the beginning again.
