  1. Good move! 😊
  2. This is exactly what our little lad did! Fascinating, and we had to be careful what we comments wrote on the whiteboard after that 🤣
  3. Well the Whitsun/late May bank holiday usually falls in half term (for us anyway) so that's no change- but our LA have said we can have one day extra whenever we choose 😁 So we're finishing a day early at the end of term.
  4. I used to pay one week Christmas, one week Easter and the remainder in August - be be honest it didn't really work out a lot different to equal payments over the year. I'm a firm believer that my staff are fully grown adults that should be in charge of their own finances, and it wasn't up to me to arrange their pay to suit their DD/SO's for Sky payments etc! HOWEVER covid cracked me - when we closed down march 20 I made a plan so they all got paid (no furlough available for us). I've stuck with it now as it actually makes my life easier. They get the full workings out for the year on a sheet which they sign (my job this week), this includes the deductions rate if they are off, overtime obviously paid at hourly rate. I do allow time off for holidays- so if they have already booked I can factor this in if they want.
  5. Us too.... but we do offer flexible funding 🤷‍♀️🤣
  6. Same here, I can't remember when we last had a 'full house' (or even near it!)
  7. We had a child like that - we worked out he could read when he started picking up staff notebooks and reading them out! 😳
  8. We do too, staff sign a disclaimer saying that's how they want to be paid though - and no one is forced to be paid that way. I wouldn't do it that way for a long time, then Covid hit and it just seemed easier for everyone. (especially me working out monthly wages) You do need to be careful about having unpaid time off!
  9. I don't want to jinx it - but our seem quite good too.
  10. We went back 2nd (or possibly 3rd go Jan) our spring term funding finished 25th March, so we used a week of summer term. We're following the school terms around here- and go back the Tuesday after the Bank Holiday. We're finishing on the 14th July, the LA has allowed us to take an extra day at any point in the year for the Queens jubilee and we're having the 15th July.
  11. At the moment we can still easily go with one staff member off at a time- what I am trying to do though is to get a 'bank' of 'things' that can be done at home - I'm having problems thinking what to put on the list though! We have signed up with noodle now for online training so that should cover a fair few hours. If you have another week to go- how many weeks do you have in your summer term, and when do you finish? We have already done one week of our summer term as we could have had three weeks off. (We did go back early after Christmas though)
  12. Currently burying head in sand......... for at least two weeks anyway!
  13. Panders - hope you granddaughter recover soon. We have a mix of sunny periods followed by snow - proper Aprils Fool's weather! We finished today- but have used one week of Summer funding to cover this week, and will finish a week early in the summer. 😁
  14. I'm just a term-time preschool, so I do not meet you criteria - but if things change for you I'm happy to participate.
  15. I believe you no longer order unless you have an outbreak - then you are given a code to input by PHE (or whatever it's called now) Might be other agencies that can issue the codes though, but I'm not totally sure who!
  16. Congratulations to you both.❤️❤️ Hope you manage to have a wonderful evening x
  17. We had a serial biter. He'd had a very troubled past, but we couldn't you positive praise with him at that was the actual trigger! 😳 What worked with him was always giving him jobs to do, so that he felt important and we would thank him for doing them- it did wonders for his self-esteem.
  18. Well, I'm not even going to comment, and if you saw the finished size of my temperature blanket you'd know why!!🤣 (I'm just hoping the little boy I made if for turns out to be a long lanky lad!)
  19. I gave my granddaughter a bucket of water and paint brush yesterday - she made a grand job of cleaning the two wooden garden benches !🤣
  20. Well, as Sunnyday said it certainly has been a full on week for lots of people o here! Hope next week bring better times for everyone 😊 Panders- I have almost another year before that luxury .... however I did get a pleasant surprise that I can now claim a very small workplace pension from years ago! (its such a huge amount that I can't decide whether or not to defer for a year and possibly add another 0.000000005p to it 🤣)
  21. Happy Birthday 🎂🥂😊
  22. It's probably been the though of Ofsted that kept you immune!!!!!!!!!! Hope your symptoms are mild, look after yourself. and take the well deserved full 10 days off to fully recover xx
  23. Actually, the more I think about it I might do 'reverse Christmas lights'... solar powered, but thread them in through the window so we can have lots of twinkly (romantic) fairy lights indoors for the evening!
  24. Yes, but at our age I worry about walking around the house with them 🤣
