Boo71 Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Well I loved this thread, made me smile, I've got a Charlie Brown, had a Jack Frost in the past and remember doing an observation in a nursery unit while I was training and met an Aladin! 3 Quote

lashes2508 Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 (edited) Nothing unusual for us although we have a Bertie and I have to be careful to not say Bertie Bassett , I'm terrible for adding or changing names as all the staff have 'special ' rhyming names which the children love. Saying that we have a little girl whose family originate from Ghana, traditionally the children are called nana followed by the day of the week they are born on , an aunty , influential person or grandparent etc as mum explained. Our little girl asked me the other day ' why do you call me nana ? I said because that's what's mummy said to call you , to which she replied ' my name is Akosua not nana, I was very proud of her wanting her own identity and when I told her mum she found it funny and said ' oh ok ' but I call them all nana ' so now we are all making sure we call her by her name or at least nana Akosua - she was born on a Sunday Edited September 20, 2015 by lashes2508 Quote
Guest Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 I have Millie, Lily and Ellie all in on the same day. That gets confusing at nappy time. Ask one to come and you get a different child. Quote
Inge Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I vividly remember one year where we had a lot of children with names that caused me no end of problems.. Niamh, Aoife, Saoirse, Grainne, and add in Sean,Shaun, Shawn, and Andrew x 3 - Destiny and Keanu just added to the mix.. was so glad we had name cards displayed on the wall or I would never have managed to spell any correctly. 3 Quote

Froglet Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 When I was at uni I had one year where I had 3 Irish flatmates. Years later I gobsmacked a new colleague by being able to spell his daughter's name - Aoife! 1 Quote

beth1 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 We have a lot of double barrelled names 3 Maisie -Lea in various formats. One who can't decided between Reily -Jack or Reily. I can't remember first names let alone their barrelled name. Last years group got shortened to first names only, think parents thought we where too confused with so many similar names. Quote
