  1. I just blitzed some more of the yogurt with some frozen cherries - that was more successful!
  2. I am laughing at myself. I usually do my best to avoid food waste - my menu plan for the week always includes clear the fridge Friday but I had been thinking that I needed to do more. I often end up with yogurt that’s about to expire and I wouldn’t eat it in time so today I tried a lemon yogurt cake… I think the words ‘epic fail’ were made for this. It bounces and I’m fairly sure is waterproof! 😂😂
  3. We absolutely did miss you! Glad you’ve moved safely. Great to hear from you!
  4. Sunnyday - happy to report all are still alive! I am having a lazy Saturday - lying on the sofa alternating between reading and knitting socks and pondering what to wear for World Book day - I don’t like the dressing up part!
  5. My reception teacher told me today that after listening to the creation story in RE one little girl was devastated because God hadn’t made houses. Her teacher explained that in the story God made the people who made the houses. “Oh, God must have made the hard hats then!”
  6. I don’t know! Probably no more humiliating than me losing it completely and being really sarcastic! 😉 I usually say )did it hurt you? Did it hurt someone else? Is it an emergency? Then you can save it for later. Today has been better (in part because one of my children who whilst not particularly a tale teller has traits which really irritate the others which then causes them to tell tales - she’s not sitting properly (meaning she nudges others or they can’t see)/she’s making noises etc some of I’m trying to strategically ignore because they irritate me too but if I picked up on all of them we would never get anything done!
  7. Oh my goodness! I want to strangle my class! I have only been back 2 days and they are driving me to distraction and almost to tears. They are SO SO fussy. I spend my days responding to constant cries of ‘Miss Froglet! He/She’s looking at me!’ And other equally important problems. It feels worse because I have the ‘nice’ class this year - no major behaviour or SEND issues but I cannot manage them! I hoped to re-set after half term but it hasn’t and I feel like I’m permanently grumpy with them. Not good! If anyone has a suggestion for how to manage tale telling I’d love to hear it! Apologies for the rant I didn’t know where else to go!
  8. I would second the taking ankles seriously. I actually made myself go to the doctors over half term for an asthma review as it’s deteriorated recently and was a little perplexed when she asked whether I had any swelling in my ankles or lower legs - apparently it can be an indicator of clotting where it shouldn’t be. Please take care all of you!
  9. How funny, I just the other day looked back to the first date of this thread just to see how many years it had been going (almost 10) and then looked through all of the ‘own makes’ one - there are some seriously impressive cakes on there!
  10. Oh I’ve seen that - came across it by chance one day. Definitely worth a rewatch! Well, after a lazy day yesterday I am being relatively productive today - restoring order and cleanliness to my house! It’s lovely to do.
  11. Yes, we got 'Good' - the hard work paid off! Only one week unfortunately and there is, inevitably, a TDL to go with it but it still feels like the first time off since last August! I think I've seen Yesterday - worth a rewatch though!
  12. Zigzag and Sunnyday I do hope your knees hear some good news/recover soon! I am on half-term as of today so have deliberately spent it being very very lazy with the odd nap or two in there. Our Ofsted report was published this week which was a huge relief - was terrified I was going to say something and invalidate it. My plans for the holiday include some serious house decluttering/cleaning. I am continuing work on my temperature blanket which I am really pleased with but have also just ordered various 'treats' for myself including a mini daffodil crochet kit and some yarn to make a pair of tardis socks for my nephew's birthday. I have never done colourwork before and the pattern is a bit odd so I will be slightly winging it!! I'm on the look out for film recommendations if anyone has one although I feel that a rewatch of Anne of Green Gables or Pride and Prejudice may be on the cards...
  13. Ok, I confess, it’s not going to be a school free Sunday - I can’t keep my eyes open let alone think! Ah well… next weekend!
  14. Hello all, I feel like I’ve not been here for ages. I do hope that those of you with ‘iffy knees’ begin to get some answers soon. I’m also fed up of mud - not rain so much but mud is grim! Last weekend we had a lovely 80th birthday celebration for my uncle in a very posh hotel I did just about manage to comport myself appropriately! Then on Monday Ofsted called so it has been a week of late nights and intense days! We have been expecting them for over a year so it was good to get it done. This weekend I am ‘regrouping’ - doing cleaning and cooking that hasn’t happened for a while. There is, of course, planning to be done for school which I am determined to get done today even if it means a late night so that I can have my first school free day since the 2nd January tomorrow! Right now though I am lying on the floor in front of the fire resting my eyes!
  15. Happy New Year to you all!
  16. Panders - I don’t but I might accidentally on purpose have bought 4 new winter books which should be arriving today… Sunnyday - so sorry to hear about your knee - lots of rest is definitely needed. As previously mentioned I am mostly avoiding schoolwork today. I am also heartily sick of this cough. My breathing wasn’t great before I started coughing now I can’t tell whether it’s worse or not. I have tried to see a doctor but no luck so far. Update - my books just arrived - now I have more procrastination reasons! I’ve read them all - they’re lovely!
  17. I am meant to be planning but… got sidetracked into making this for my winter library display.
  18. Thank you. I’d not thought about a sad lamp at all. The winter doesn’t generally bother me but recently we had a couple of those bitingly cold but gloriously clear days when I happened to get outside and it did make a real difference to how energised I felt even being poorly so definitely worth considering. PS Love the gingerbread man!
  19. Yeah, that’s not where you’d want water pouring from! Time with family was good but the cold I was coming down with at the end of last week isn’t going. Have taken so much paracetamol and am coughing so bits of me hurt. Today was going to be a work day but it isn’t. There is so much to do though (home as much as school). I’m sitting in front of the fire in a nest of chaos. I think I’m going to try to do 15 minutes of something just to make myself feel less overwhelmed by it all! I will be fine just feeling sorry for myself!
  20. And to you Sunnyday! I am on my first proper holiday day (was tying up loose ends yesterday) which is lovely although I have the same horrible cough/cold that others at school have had. I am though suddenly realising that Christmas is the day after tomorrow and I am SO unprepared. I just rang my mum to say - are you expecting me? Today needs to be mainly about cleaning and tidying because I wouldn't let anyone through the front door at the moment, let alone Santa! I will admit that a fair amount of stashing in the spare room is going to happen to be sorted next week. I also need to do a little bit of creating for presents that haven't yet arrived - I'm planning to print a photo of them and just present it nicely which I also need to do for my brother and sister's presents as they wanted money towards big things that they are planning to buy. I did have on my list of things to do making a gingerbread house and a wreath - they were things I added to my '50 things in my 50th year' list but they aren't going to happen before Christmas. Then I reminded myself that actually no one says either of them need to be a Christmas thing!
  21. I created a ‘library’ in a quiet space off my classroom. I am planning to update this autumn display to winter in the new year. Has anyone any favourite winter themed stories they’d recommend?
  22. I made it!
  23. Is it a mark of how tired I am that I read that and thought ‘but I’m not in it!’
  24. Thank you! I have a nativity on Monday (2 performances) and we are very overdue Ofsted so once it gets to 2.30pm we’re celebrating! We have a 2 week October half term break which I love but it does mean other holidays feel skewed. We started back in August, my niblings all started back the week after but they’ve finished this Friday and are back on the 4th January just like me!
  25. I do feel that we maybe need an artists rendition of Sunnyday’s collection of balaclavas - I wouldn’t want to repeat a pattern!
