I don't think "call me Dave" was the most studious of students! and as for Ms Morgan, don't think she's the sharpest tool in the box either. lynned55
Have they really, voted against it? I've just googled that and its coming up that The childcare bill is going through still and is now ready for its 'third reading' on 26th October. Unless of course I'm looking at the wrong thing. During the debate in the House of Lords, concerns were raised about the lack of detailed information on how much the scheme would actually cost, as well as the definition of eligibility for working parents who would qualify for the extra hours.
mundia
lets not celebrate too quickly as the debate also said there is plenty of time to have the spending review and still be able to roll out in 2017. we have to hope now that the comprehensive spending review is exacgly that and does look at what funding needs to be in place if the scheme does go ahead.
Wildflowers
Secretary of State for Education, Nicky Morgan, has announced the new average funding rate for the early years. The average hourly rate for free childcare for 3 and 4 year olds will be £4.88 including the EYPP, and for free 2 year old childcare will be £5.39. She also announced that a national early years funding formula review will also be conducted in 2016. Earlier the Chancellor announced some changes to the 30 hours free childcare eligibility in the Spending Review. To be eligible parents needs to be working the equivalent of 16 hours per week per parent at the national minimum wage, and earning less than £100,000 per parent. AliceinWonderland
Wow! not a lot of increase then! will be interesting to see exactly how that translates into the different areas. Not sure if this is right but i don't know how they can say it includes the EYPP, those children won't be accessing the extra hours anyway!
