I said in one of the threads that my 9000th post would be to start a thread on things we have made ourselves that we are proud of. So it could be when you were doing a demo for a child to see what you meant (and thought, crikey, that's good!), or a cake you baked or something you knitted. Some sort of handicraft, anyway.

 

So come on, let's have a bit of show and tell!

You get your thin card wet by just painting with water and drip watered down watercolours (we used tube ones) onto it and let them run into each other a bit. Then you put a sheet of cling film over the top and lightly scrunch it a bit. Then you just leave it to dry. Simple but effective! There was no stopping them once they got started, they just needed help getting the cling film as it's tricky stuff!

Done a while ago now, but an upcycle project that works really well... 3 pallets, 2 fence panels, 4 fenceposts.. some wood battens... all found or given to us so we could burn them on our log fire...screws were all found in my never throw away box of bits as we may need just one sometime...

so cost was for 1 roof,

So glad you started this Cait and love the ones added so far. I am going to get thinking about what ? I can add - it might motivate me to finish dome projects - I have a quilt that the binding needs finishing on. Obviously I have to make a 3D biscuit scene for Sunnyday first!

Well done on your 9000th + post Cait - Here's my contribution to your thread.

Many moons ago when my children were small I used to love making and decorating their birthday cakes - not quite 3D biscuits but passable efforts I think

Thank you Froglet - now my children are in their twenties and their tastes and habits have changed perhaps I should focus on making some creative cocktails xD

The most recent thing for me was our dining room chairs which I upholstered. We bought two sets from a secondhand shop about 15 years ago and I've only just got round to doing them! They're lovely to sit on now and look very smart.

Ok everybody, as the term approaches, I'm looking forward to seeing all your fabulous works of art - so when your children are painting their self portraits or whatever, I'm expecting you to have a go too and post your own 'makes' on here!

OK, had to add this because I am very proud! These are the treats I've made for our first day back INSET tomorrow - everyone needs a little treat to get them through that! The reason I'm proud though is that they are both firsts. The green slightly splodgy things are miniature key lime pies. The other stuff is millionaires' shortbread. I have made that before but it would have been kindly term 'an unmitigated disaster'; the shortbread part just disintegrated as soon as you picked it up and the caramel bit was so hard it was taking fillings out. I have, however, just taste tested this (someone had to! ;):ph34r: ) and it's worked! :D

Surely you need some objective views here Froglet? A lick of the bowl even?, when my lovely youngest son made these a while back, the shortbread was so hard it need a pneumatic drill to get through it! We suggested just to top bought shortbread in future - he hasn't made them since, however, his chocolate brownies are legendary for the right reasons. Hope your makes go down well tomorrow

Panders - bowls are all washed up but I can save you a piece! Was very tense while stirring the caramel! Getting chocolate brownies to have just the right degree of chewiness in the middle is tricky!
