  1. so a managed quarantine hotel you have to access testing. The day 8 test is the last one but you must stay for 10 days to ensure you are fully free of covid. I would be asking for a test to be done before returning to preschool on or after the 10th day the results of which could be sent to you. (this might be rapid flow or pcr depending on your rules.
  2. and on open days.... Government guidance states that you should complete thorough risk assessments before running transitional, taster and open days in your setting, to ensure that they are run in line with your system of controls and align with the advice contained within the guidance for your setting and the roadmap out of lockdown. This means that traditional transitional and open days are unlikely to be feasible this academic year but the Department for Education is not restricting individual settings from designing events which maintain the integrity of bubbles or consistent groups, and adhere to the system of controls in place.
  3. new guidelines out today Government guidance states that if you are planning to hold a leavers' event, you should avoid hosting large group gatherings indoors for more than one bubble (if your setting operates bubbles) or consistent group. However, as outdoor events are generally lower-risk, once you have undertaken a risk assessment and planned your event in line with your system of controls, you may consider an outdoor event (for example a leavers’ celebration or prom) that caters for more than one bubble or consistent group, as long as the groups continue to be kept separate. Any parents attending outdoor events must adhere to current social distancing requirements. Where outdoors spectators can gather in groups of up to 30 (again, multiple groups of 30 are permitted).
  4. I would definitely be trying to cut down on quantity and focus on quantity in light of the new reforms,
  5. IS it worth going down the in the moment planning route and having focus children for the week....then setting a next step at the end of that week? We are having the opposite at the moment...we are so busy that none of us have any time to do obs! i need an extra 6 arms/legs!
  6. I've asked the powers to clarify!!! (won't hear till monday!)
  7. No help here...i'm in a quandary ! i keep pinging from one idea to another. Does the 30 include children??
  8. I think this is something that will become less of an issue next year. Observations are about what you can see and hear from the child....one or two really good ones are much more informative than 20 rubbish ones. The danger with putting numbers out there is that the quality will disappear . Our obs are about anything the child has done that you haven't seen before!
  9. Tough year! I too would be putting as much away as possible i think ....try to rotate stuff more often (like that thing when your own kids go on holiday and when they come back they play really well for a couple of days. ) Is this being led by a particular one or 2? divide and conquer may be?? Playroom syndrome???
  10. didn't know this one......went and looked it up now have an ear worm!
  11. Well done..some of us are leaders others just follow!! Guess I would start with what the schools want to know !!! Suspect a very short one page summary 🤔 i')) send you mine if you want?
  12. Love these versions....guess what we are singing today then !!
  13. so the list so far is Head shoulders knees and toes (i would say this is a nursery song and so counts!!) Incy wincey Frere Jacque Wheels on the bus Peter Hammers Goldilocks surprised that more people haven't jumped on this thread.....am i the only one who sings their way through the day😄 so it has been proven that children who know 8 songs at the age of 3 are likely to be much better readers later in school... as conversational skills and language are such an important part of the new EYFS i'm just looking at my ideal 8 think i would need if you are happy and you know it......sandy girl.......five currant buns.......twinkle twinkle ..... baa baa black sheep and tommy thumb........could go on!
  14. Thanks Gezebel thats really useful feedback. My displays are definitely not a strong point at the moment....feel i may have lost the impetus over lockdown !! Loving the workers in progress idea...may nick that !! thanks again. x fm
  15. so what would your top tips be Gezebel?
  16. I have realised that i cannot remember the last time i sang this but since i have SO many other languages in the setting that may be why!! does anyone sing any songs in children's home languages other than English or French?
  17. i'm loving that list panders!
  18. So if you were going to teach 8 nursery rhymes (hopefully to cover several subject areas) What would they be?
  19. Our LA does not give us any documentation to fill out. The statutory framework expects transition information to happen but doesn't give any details as to what that looks like. we are starting to use a passport type document instead for ours now which is more child centred (for those who don't use tapestry of course)
  20. i would agree a decent crumb coat will be fine and if it's not smooth enough do 2 crumb coats!
  21. We are out out on saturday !!🤣
  22. now have my log on!
