I can't remember which forum member phoned the DfE to ask for details about the 30 hr offer but were told that the only way to get this information was to email expressing an interest.

The Foundation Years website has the following:

"Organisations who would like to register their interest can do so by emailing DfE at early.implementers@education.gsi.gov.uk by Monday 28th September. All you have to do now is to email saying ‘I’d like to be an early implementer’ and they will email you details on how to apply shortly."

The phrase "I'd like to be an early implementer" is what probably "allows" the government to say that hundreds of providers are interested.

I emailed saying I would be interested in having more details about being an early implementer - slightly different to "I'd like to be an early implementer" - not because I want to be one but because I want the details!!!!!

As for being emailed shortly on how to apply - I haven't heard anything yet

someone on here must have applied....come on own up! we promise not to be mean as long as you tell us the details!!!!

To be honest it may help us out if the price is right .....when I worked out the figures. It means we have half as many children so the staff have less keychildren and we charge for lunch club and after school (potentially) BUT I don't think many families will be eligible. Also I still don't understand how the government are going to supply all the additional spaces they need as we will only be able to take half the quantity we do now.

Does anyone have the link to what Sam is saying?

'THAT' Truss woman says it all doesnt it??

She's in Environment now I believe, she recently allowed pesticides which are banned in Europe due to their proficiency at killing bees, to be used in the UK.

Interesting that the article talks about supporting families, disadvantaged communities etc. What a brilliant idea!!! Am I missing something here??? Could have sworn that is what we all do already, often in our own time and at settings expense as government and local authority funding has been cut or is non existent!!!!

Instead of talking to French providers why the hell do they not talk to the providers in their own country? It's beyond me it really is. :o

Because we don't give them the answers they want to hear e.g. ratios can be stretched, more funding is not required etc....!

Yep i registered an interest just to get the info.. i am sure many did this like mentioned. Although having a few children eligible for the 30 hours it actually would be a benefit to these children and families if we could provide this. Yes the funding isn't in line with the true costs of a usual place but for some settings who might be struggling to fill places it can be better than nothing financially. So it is good for the children and also for the setting but an increase in funding would take the pressure off financially of course.
