Steve Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 It's sitting in a dusty room somewhere, back in the old house! We've got the host techies working on it at the moment. That's why the front page has disappeared again! If it's irritating you, just be aware that I'm running out of fingernails... 1
surfer Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 OOOhhh- that explains the strange messages last night!! Where has the homepage gone?? Is it covered in snow?
Beau Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 And it's back - just off to have a poke around to see what else is missing
Steve Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 Ok - view new content and the nav bar are back!

louby loo Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Well my DNP thingy (or whaterver it's called) may be a bit slow...............but it's perfect- I've got everthing ::1a xx
Steve Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 That's good to hear. We're slowly returning to normality I think!
Inge Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Phew, glad to see it survived the move, even if it was a little late being unpacked...
Cait Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Just had a message from klc to say she is still locked out. Anything I can tell her to help?
SueJ Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Was a bit worried earlier as couldn't seem to get in (thought it might be me) but all bits are back and in working order (shame the same can't be said for me but hey it is Friday after all ) 1
Steve Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 Unfortunately there's very little we can do about it Cait, if it's just the DNS propagation issue. Could you ask her to email me with the exact error message she's getting? I think you've got my email address haven't you.
Susan Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I'm locked out again on my laptop. I get to a default website page with a message to contact the webmaster. Too fiddly to keep in touch on my phone!
Steve Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 Hi Susan - Can you tell me what the message says (any particular error message (error 404 etc)). And what does the URL on the address bar say after the error page has loaded?
Guest Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 glad to be back! thanks admin team! right time to have a nosey! :1b

Guest sn0wdr0p Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Phew, have managed to get my husband to bring his iPad home so I Can send this message. HELP! I still can't access the forum. I keep getting the default website page and the message about the DNS cache. Should I clear the cache as the instructions say (I will need to get my teenage son to do it for me. Far too scary for me) or should I wait for it as you say it may catch up on itself. I miss you all and I need your help as I have a parent coming to see me this morning about enrolling her blind son in our out of school club. So lonely out here in the cold.
Susan Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Hi Snowdrop, I had to do that to maintain my access as my laptop seemed to be remembering out of date info even though it appeared to be picking up the new stuff ok too! Took alot of playing by my tec support here though so hope yours is more straight forward.
Steve Posted January 26, 2013 Author Posted January 26, 2013 Hi Snowdrop - Sorry you've been bothered by this. There seems to be some strange effect of the move, that I have no idea how to resolve. You could try this, if you're using Firefox. Go to Tools and Options, then click the 'Advanced' tab. You'll see an option to click 'Clear Now' in the 'Cached Web Content' area (see screenshot below). Click that, then close the browser and re-open. It works sometimes (but not always, as Susan reported).
Guest sn0wdr0p Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Hooray it's working again and I didn't do a thing. Thank you.
Steve Posted January 26, 2013 Author Posted January 26, 2013 Great stuff Snowdrop! Slowly people are reporting that things are settling down. Thank goodness we don't need to do this more than once in a blue moon!
Steve Posted January 26, 2013 Author Posted January 26, 2013 Anyone still having problems? It looks to me as though the changes to DNS are being registered properly now. Why they weren't before is anyone's guess - sorry for the trauma...
