  1. Fabulous! Did you knit your threads as you went along or weave them in? Looks very cosy. X
  2. We had three consecutive christmases without power from Christmas Eve until various amounts of days, one of which was well over a week, when we lived in Cumbria. They finally routed the cables underground and it stopped it, mostly. It was unbelievable the second time when the lights went out during midnight communion. The third year I hadn’t even bothered buying a turkey or feeding the freezer, so there was nothing really lost.
  3. Oh dear - I hope she picks up properly soon. I hear the Queen has tested positive with mild, cold-like symptoms and intends to continue with her light duties this week! 😳😳
  4. I’ll do the 12 circuits of white and then measure again. I might finish off by doing two circuits of each colour. That’ll give another block of 12 rows
  5. It’s actually a pale baby blue, just a break from crochet. It’s a long way round the blanket now!
  6. Copied from Twitter, but too funny not to share
  7. We managed okay here yesterday. The oak tree is still standing!
  8. There’s a ‘disabled’ loo too, complete with changing table, so technically, there could be more, but the outside area wouldn’t cope with that. Having run a preschool in the past, I’d not like to have many more than a dozen children in that space at one time. She’s not got back to me, so maybe the realities have put her off …….
  9. The hall is really big, has one big main room that’s larger than a badminton/tennis court, a smaller room half that size and a kitchen the same size as the smaller room. It has an access loo and three ladies loos - one of which is a mini loo, as well as the usual gents setup. Bit of outdoor space but all tarmac - the one downside is that there’s no parking.
  10. Sending love and hugs. Hopefully she will get her balances settled quickly. Xxx
  11. Oh my goodness! Let’s hope these occurrences are getting milder now until it just becomes a strain of a common cold.
  12. Thanks for that. Yes, I got the impression she didn’t have much of a clue, as her email wasn’t particularly professional. It’s the church hall, and we do hire it out for lots of things already. Mainly evening, Saturday dance class and a couple of afternoons - Japanese drummers etc. I asked her for more info when I told her our prices, and she’s not come back to me, so maybe she’s decided we are too expensive. At £12:50 an hour she would need a room load of children to cover that and staffing, insurance etc!
  13. That looks fabulous! Well done! I found that when I did mine, it was better to trim one of the layers of batting back a bit so I wasn’t fighting with two layers right at the fold of the binding. better than my first attempt!
  14. Are you going to show us? Pretty please?
  15. That’s very possible.
  16. Yes good point. I do wonder if she’s done any research into need, we do seem to have a few preschool/playgroups in town!
  17. Ours loved this ….. https://www.funathomewithkids.com/2013/10/edible-slime-or-gak-chemical-and-borax.html
  18. Hello all! im wearing a different ‘hat’ today, that of Bookings Secretary for our Parish Hall. I’ve been approached by someone wanting to start a preschool, and enquiring about availability, prices etc. I’m just wanting to make sure I’m giving her the right feedback before I respond. She’s planning on running session 9-1. Now, from memory, that suggests to me that she’ll have to be Ofsted registered (more than 2hrs). Is that still the case? And the premises will need to pass their inspection. I assume she will be committee run - not sure why I’m assuming that, just because she’s approached with just her first name I think. So, she will need whatever EY2s etc are called these days, medical checks, DBS and full committee cleared before she starts up? Is that correct? Presumably Charity Commission clearance? what else? What have I not thought of? We’ve limited storage nowadays so as she will be pack away, that will need to be taken into consideration. all suggestions greatfully accepted!
  19. Will do!
  20. It’s simple, but looks effective. It’s long lengths just threaded up and down through the knitting.
  21. Here’s the scarf coming along, once it’s knitted, I’ll weave in self changing rainbow yarn into the rainbow bit to make a fringe. It always looks very effective
  22. Half term is also halfway through the year, it’s all downhill after that!
  23. Ooh. Should we be jealous?
  24. Me too.
