  1. Any Strictly watchers? Do we need a new thread or hijack this one?
  2. The word of the week last week was definitely ‘catafalque’.
  3. Anyone else watching Bake off?
  4. It was all fabulous. I particularly liked the Windsor service. That piper at the end leading out into the sunshine really got me.
  5. Two speeds - ‘slow’ and ‘stop’
  6. Fabulous comment on twitter this morning - They should have got teachers managing that queue. We'd have brought all our lunch duty skills to have everyone in and out by now.
  7. And to you! First chilly day here - don’t socks feel odd the first time back on!!
  8. I think he was in Ireland yesterday morning, wasn’t he? Isn’t that where the pen malfunctioned? Just Wales to go to, I think? 🤔
  9. What a day again! They must be exhausted and emotionally and physically drained! They’ve handed her over to the Queen now, so hopefully they can all get some rest tonight. Televisually, that is presumably ‘it’ now until Monday. Apart from King Charles’ visits around and about - is it any wonder he got upset at the fountain pen malfunctioning?
  10. In a brown paper bag with a banana, my grandad always said.
  11. Tra la la 🤭🤣🤣😆
  12. Oh my goodness! That’s a huge shame on both fronts! That seems a bit of a “rip off” then!
  13. I think we are just enjoying the last of the lovely weather before the promised deluges. I shall weed the driveway cracks between the flagstones I think - back-breaking but it needs to be done and I refuse to spray. I remember the feeling of being obsessed with the smart meter! Unfortunately the box in the house doesn’t talk to it any longer, and British Gas boiler service wasn’t interested in being helpful when he came, so I’m going to have to try and contact them to get a replacement. 😩 So excited about your youngest grandson entering the world of academia, but it’s really bittersweet, isn’t it. That feeling that they’re not quite yours any more. 😕
  14. Oh crikey! So the days of automatic ones are gone now? Used to be if you purchased the book, then you logged into your online account with a code they gave you, and you could download the updates from there. Is that no longer the case?
  15. Granddaughter chose an unfortunate time to pick her nose 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  16. We really did!
  17. Our daughter’s wedding on Saturday. 🥰🥰🥰
  18. I love them! You’re very clever!
  19. Oh that is sad! It’ll give you the opportunity to see another system though, and you’ve the knowledge to critique.
  20. Oh I’m so, so sad for you. That’s truly heartbreaking. There’s nothing I can say really, that will help in even the smallest way. Suffice to say that you’re all in my thoughts and prayers. Sending gentle hugs x
  21. Oh my!!! That’s fantastic! I think that’s more than our whole annual bil 🤣🤣🤣
  22. Ooh I watched that too - it was really good. A lot of it wasn’t new info - to me anyway - but it was put across very well at a good level that maintained my interest. Sometimes these programmes feel soooooooo stretched out, and you’re left thinking ‘well, you could have told me all that in the first 15 minutes!’ 🤣🤣
  23. I always did that - went to work to ‘play’ and then worked till 10.30 every night and weekends on the work/admin side of things, unpaid in my own time. I did enjoy that aspect, but with retrospect, it did rob me of any leisure time completely. Zebedee worried how I would cope with retirement. it didn’t help that the lady who took over from me did all the admin during work hours and was out of the door at the end of the day and left it all behind. 😳
  24. Yey! Church cleaning this morning and a funeral of a church warden this afternoon. It’s actually quite bizarre because his wife died a year ago, followed a week later by the wife of another church member. Charles died a fortnight ago, followed a few days later by the other church member. So strange.
