Rea Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 I've been following West Midlands Police on twitter. I recently found they have a Police Property Act Fund. The proceeds of criminal activity are claimed by the Police and given out to Charity groups who apply. I've just spoken to our local police team, been given a form to fill in and told playgroup will probably get some money! Anything from a couple of hundred to £2000!!! You can only apply once in two years and like most other funding you have to have an aim, but thats fine for us, we've got an ever increasing wish list of necessary items let alone luxuries. Just thought your local police might have a similar thing you can look into 1
Rea Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 Just read the form properly, we can tell them exactly what we want, including prices and they'll, hopefully, dish it out. I cant wait to shop, but we've got a new manager starting in September so I really should wait to see what she'd like.
Fredbear Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Thank you for sharing this info, every little helps.
Cait Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 So how do we apply, do you reckon? Do we just phone the county headquarters?
HappyMaz Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 This is why I love twitter. Get applying everyone!
Rea Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) So how do we apply, do you reckon? Do we just phone the county headquarters? I was told to contact my local police Cait and it just so happens the following day they were doing a safety day outside Halfords and when I asked who my local team were it was them West Midlands police had £11.1 million last year from criminals! So plenty to go around down here Maz, I'm a convert to it, I love it Edited July 18, 2013 by Rea
lashes2508 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 just looked at one for Essex but the 3 criterias states it is to be used for preventing crimes , rehabilitation of offenders and victim support
lashes2508 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 yes I just typed in and found document relating to it - how much given and to who
Rea Posted July 24, 2013 Author Posted July 24, 2013 Oh that's a shame lashes, maybe you don't have enough crime to spread the money any further!
finleysmaid Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 anyone know if Thames VAlley do this? can't find any evidence at all (haha excuse the pun )
Rea Posted July 24, 2013 Author Posted July 24, 2013 I just tweeted our West Mids Police to see if they knew of any other forces who give to charities, they say you'd need to do an internet search or contact individual forces. I did a quick search and Northumberland do http://opencharities.org/charities/1055033 Sussex http://www.sussex.police.uk/policing-in-sussex/the-organisation/police-property-act-fund-(ppaf)/ North Yorkshire http://www.northyorkshire.police.uk/ppfa Lincolnshire http://www.lincs.police.uk/News-Centre/Campaigns/Police-Property-Act-Fund/ I'll leave you to look for more, but it seems the criteria for claiming are pretty uniform. I'd make friends with the local bobby and go through him. Ours told me to send the form directly to him and he'd pass it on even though the form says to return it somewhere else 1
sunnyday Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I had a look at Kent - not for pre-school - no charitable status - but for the community building that we operate from - could see there might be some possibility - I intend to ask our Parish Council to pursue this further! :1b Not that I'm one to 'wriggle' out of a job obviously!
Guest Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 somerset and avon constabulary funding for charities only, boohoo
Cait Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 My county haven't replied and nothing on their website hat I can see, even google couldn't find anything
lashes2508 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I will try the local bobby as very good friends - and we may get something for the hall rather than the preschool directly - but thankyou Rea as my search highlighted another charitable organisation with lots to apply for . Must say we have been very fortunate as just had money given from the school house trust for our new door access , art trolley, multi headset cd player and dividers they have only ever supported the school but fortunately one of the trustees ( once fellow governor alongside me ) asked them to look at the constitution again and said it could open to preschool as educational and bingo - made a bid and then cheque arrived for all we requested ! very much a case of not what you know but who you know 2
