sunnyday
My smiles for today: Daughter-in-law has asked me to look after my youngest granddaughter (22 months) for the day tomorrow - this will include taking her to her 'tumble tots' session - yay - sounds like fun to me! :1b One of my lovely parents gave me a pot of narcissus (narcissi?) yesterday - today I moved these into one of my planters and splashed out £2.99 for a tray of yellow and purple pansies to plant round them - all looks very pretty :1b Have made a sterling start on the Easter Hols TDL :1b but have had plenty of time to do other more enjoyable things too :1b Edited March 29, 2017 by sunnyday

Froglet
I know I had a smile yesterday because I remember thinking 'I must post that on the smile a day thread' but time just disappeared last night and today I can't remember what it was! Today I think it was a smile at one of my little boys who is from a military family. Dad is going away soon - and this morning the little boy was so sweetly and stoically telling me about it saying that 'daddy was in the army and was going to another country to help people'. He then went on to say that his big brother would be the 'man of the house' while daddy was away. I smiled and asked what that meant 'He has to be good!' was the reply. I then asked what he would be while daddy was away. He thought for a moment then gave me his lovely cheeky grin and said "I will be me!"
Froglet
I remembered my Wednesday smile! The lovely TA who works with me at the beginning of the week gave me an Easter card thanking me for the last two terms and saying 'You've given me my love of the job back.' How sweet was that? Yesterday (and I do feel slightly guilty for saying this) my student finished. My Easter holiday has started (apologies to those who haven't or who don't get one). I called in to see my dad last night - it was unplanned and something I wouldn't usually do now they've moved slightly further away. My mum was away and I stayed and we went out to the pub across the road for tea. It was a nice evening and I was reminded just how lovely my dad is. He's a quiet man and when other people are around he tends to be even quieter (hmmm - I can see where my personality traits come from! ) but one to one we have some great conversations!

Froglet
I was browsing old threads (yes, I’m procrastinating) but thought I’d resurrect this one for a little while as it’s cold and grey and bleak and the snow no longer looks pretty. Plus a couple of friends are having some really tough stuff going on at the moment. So, my smile for today... lots of baking! A couple of friends are due to take some Y6s on a residential next week. I always make them a survival kit which has a can of red bull, sachets of hot chocolate and cake. This year, I’m making chocolate brownies, chocolate and ginger biscuit cake and tea loaf. Soon my kitchen is going to smell delicious! Plus I get to lick the bowls and taste test!
louby loo
Well my smile - (and I'm actually going to spill the beans and to he** with it if 'said' person is on this forum - although now we need to pay I highly doubt it!) We've had an horrendous year at work. Nothing to do with work itself, but it turned our the owner owed in excess of £12,000 in back rent. wages were hit/miss whether or not we would get paid without problems. We were actually full to capacity and running well above break even- but when you find out our food bill was well over £100+ per week for breadsticks (parents supplied fruit) you can see something was obviously financially not correct ...... Anyway long story-short, lots of outside people involved -but we (in my name)were able to take it over as community interest company ..... but it's been a stressful time to say the least. We had to do a complete re-regsiter as the LA would not even consider a straightforward change of ownership. Landlords were fantastic I have to say. Stuff finally complete for first week back after half term. Anyway my smile - unbeknown to me my daughter had booked a 4 day surprise spa break (joint birthday/mothers day gift) She even sorted it with staff at the setting. So I'm off Tomorrow and back to work Thursday. We have a big work celebration meal next week too.

My smile for today - no make that a huge beam - the snow is thawing rapidly here - yay! I can't wait to get back to a bit of normality!
sunnyday
My smile for yesterday........ We were looking after our two youngest grandchildren - that dear baby boy rolled over - Mr S said "oh has he done that before", i said "no, I don't think so, we mustn't mention it just in case" - sure enough my daughter-in-law emailed this afternoon to say "Xxxx rolled over for the first time" - I'm so pleased that we hadn't said anything and we never will

zigzag
In a slightly frustrating time at the moment my smile this morning is looking out at my allotment which is now, thanks to some hard work from my sons all dug over and ready for the rotivator. Whilst admiring this all I can hear is the birds singing, the lambs in a nearby field, the cows mooing madly at something and even the blooming rooster going for it! Blissful😀

Froglet
Felt like resurrecting this one today. So, some of my smiles. A child with significant needs in my class did something amazing today; no one else would realise it was but I nearly cried. Beautiful sunshine at playtime. Making one of the TAs giggle with my violent comedy sneezes. Leaving my classroom tidy for once!

blondie
I went to my friends for Macmillan Coffee morning - although we did afternoon tea. It was lovely, she made some amazing cakes and raised £70 for the cause which is very close to her heart as her husband sadly passed away some years ago from cancer and the Macmillan nurses supported them both amazingly.

Froglet
We were opening up a mystery package giving clues about the ‘olden days’ people we’re learning about. One of the pictures was a bowler hat. Later I asked if anyone had any ideas about what job they did. One little one said do they do bowling?
