Does anyone know what the rate is for Birmingham yet or how I can find this information out.

from the psla database

Birmingham Council is proposing an hourly base rate of £4.03 for PVI providers, £4.35 for schools with nursery classes and BCC Day-Care and £4.24 plus £3.13 protection for maintained nursery schools.

I am reading this thread with great interest - I'm still not sure what to do myself...

JJA , or anyone else! - forgive me if I'm being dense, how have you worked out your 22.25 hrs rather than 30?

I think this is spread across the year rather than term time only.

Hi Keyup, we just found out a couple of weeks ago that our county had been invited to be an early implementer from April ....

Now have the long awaited news re funding from Kent :(

Supplements for quality 0.20 pence (Level 6 or above working 50% of time with children and childminders level 3)

I was on a county briefing today about the 30 hours, strangely many of us said the same, that the 30 hours had been hovering in our sights for a long time but we hadn't really got round to looking at it seriously

Blimey my head has been well and truly stuck in the sand, as I have totally been ignoring the 30 hours. It seems that now I her the pensions debacle sorted then this needs considering! Sunnyday may I join you in the sandpit I promise I won't throw it!

We are a small committee run rural village pre-school open from 8:45-11:45 in the past we have opened a couple of afternoons when the need was there. Not sure what to do or where to start even thinking about the 30 hours. How are similar groups going about it?

so based on the info from Rebecca above from the DFE it says

We are clear that local authorities should pass on as much funding as possible to providers rather than retaining significant resource centrally. Our move to fair allocation of funding will enable all councils to afford to pay providers a sustainable rate. We will consult on these issues in the new year.

Does anyone feel that this is actually what has happened? How close to the government funding figure is your allocated hourly rate?

Well - you don't have to offer it, but you could work in partnership with childminders, parents are entitled up to 30 hours, so they don't have to take all of it, just like they don't have to take all of the current 15. Personally, we will not be opening any longer, but I do have a couple of parents who ask grandparents to pick up for them because they need to work a couple of extra hours - they might be persuaded to use a childminder if they could claim extra hours and not pay.

Also if you did offer it and it really wasn't working for you, you can pull out, unlike the 15 hours which would be much harder to do and just go back to offering the 15. You could wait and see how things pan out over the next year and then offer it if there is a need and you are able to and the admin for it all has settled down.

I can answer that one - we will receive £3.91 from £4.48

I'm staying in the pit. :1b

Pandas post has given me all the info I need (and not the one with the link - that required faaaarrrr to much reading) !!

Finleysmaid post has given me total 'head in sand again' emotions - as it would require me to do maths and writing things down.

so if you were getting the full amount....based on a group of 30 you are going to be down nearly £500 per week.(I have NO idea how many children you take ;) ) so in theory you are making a contribution to your LEA of nearly 10k to the lea based on these amounts...and that's just from you...how many other settings in your neighbourhood!
