  1. Zigzag - That’s lovely news! Best wishes, my 1st grandson was 3 this week, just crazy and excited no 2 is due in a couple of months. sunnyday - CP has hit our setting too, must be the time of year What are my co-managers thinking of the DFE pushing the funding ‘must be free’ to parents …if all our parents decide not to pay the consumables fee it will cost us about 2.5k a term and on top the next pay increases just around the corner 😞 Have a good weekend all x
  2. Hi, and welcome to the forum. we are term time too, I guess it would depend on your contracts really, but if we were sick in the holidays we wouldn’t get sick pay as we’re not contracted to work those closed weeks, if we’re on sick pay before a holiday it would stop during the holiday.
  3. Thanks Louby, is this on the new EYA central site? I’ve never used them but thought I’d take a look as I need to update a couple of our policies.
  4. Hi all, and 🙌 🙌 to half way through the school year sunnyday, I have never needed to see a year group move on to school as much as this years cohort for everyone’s sanity, I just hope we can break the cycle of the learnt behaviour in the staying children 🙏 Is anyone here an EYA member? If yes, can you tell me how to find their flippin policies please 🤷‍♀️
  5. A little late but wishing everyone a happy & healthy 2025. Hope the new term starts well for those back tomorrow (☹️)
  6. Well it’s here, so here’s wishing all my forum friends a lovely Christmas Day whatever you’re doing, just finished wrapping the last bits that I always tell myself I won’t leave this late (but always do 🙄)
  7. Totally agree with you, I was very much at the bah humbug, ‘what is the point in all this’ stage until our grandchild arrived and it so worthwhile again, have the best time 🎅🏻 🎄 🎁
  8. Hi Trekker, good to see you, sadly it is quieter, I think the FB Tap group and other manager groups took over 😞 hope you haven’t needed your torch, it seems rougher now than earlier 🤞
  9. Hi all, hope everyone has had a good week, feels like we’re on the home run now 🙌 Lots of cancelled events here too, take care, batten down the hatches and stay safe all …… jumped out of my skin when the Gov alert red warning came through, though the beeb weather still showing yellow warning 💨
  10. I think it must be zigzag, trying to get some out at any time is a struggle now, I wonder with some if it’s more about having to get kitted up to go out in the wet/cold weather, I was asking a few of our 4 yr olds struggling to just pull outdoor trousers on who dresses them and do they put their own pJ’s on, and all said ‘mummy does it’, I’m am always sending home asking parents to support children with their independence, lots of ideas including start with PJ’s as less rushed at that time of day, hair scrunchies to pull over feet if struggling with putting socks on but what can you do when they ignore everything 🤷‍♀️
  11. Well I missed a whole week 🤷‍♀️ We had snow too, but honestly the staff were more excited about getting out in it than the children, and so many tears once outside they had to come back in, a few years ago we’d of had to drag them in kicking and screaming 😞 It’s seemed like an endless term but is now going to fast with too much to do/organise. Hope storm Bert isn’t too destructive for anyone 💨
  12. Feels like it’s been a long week and a man down already hasn’t helped. I was looking on Boots to book flu jab, was it £21 last year? Can’t remember 🤷‍♀️My local chemist does them for over 65 but not the paid for which is a nuisance. hope everyone is having a chilled weekend x
  13. Happy Birthday Froglet….hope it’s a good one 💐 🧶 🍰
  14. Hope it passes soon sunnyday, guess I should book a flu one 😷 Thinking of you zigzag, be strong 😞 , you’ll have a reason to visit London, and take in a show or two 🎶
  15. I’m a bit late catching up here… I’m so sorry to read about your loss Cait 😔 x I found out this week that grandchild no2 is on the way next spring so excited about that and definitely took the edge off what has been a challenging work week 🤯
  16. Wow, that’s a tough call, Best Wishes to you. we moved premises 14 yrs ago, (same village, same committee, same staff) the premises wasn’t completely set up, mostly an empty shell, I just explained what areas would be where and how thise areas would support development, I did have to have the suitable persons interview again even though I’d been the manager for 20+ years. I’d email on the enquiries@Ofsted email (for all changes now) and explain the situation/time line. could you put something out to the community explaining the situation, you might find a business happy to do a charitable act for a bit of PR and help with the actual moving of equipment (or parents who would give up a little time, especially if they no there is a chance it won’t be ready to open Jan’25).
  17. Good luck sunnyday, I’m hoping to make it to a friends tomorrow (providing roads are passable 🙄) have a good weekend all, despite the rain ☔️
  18. Hi Fm, my thinking is that, in this case the 3rd person could be unqualified, 1 x L3 (manager provided with chn), half of all other staff need to be qualified at L2 (which 2nd person is) then 3rd can be unqualified.
  19. Hi Glitterstar, our parents have just found messaging and seem to have run with it but I don’t get email notifications so I’m thinking that can be changed in settings/notifications, I see what you mean about other staff missing the message though as when someone has read it I guess it no longer flags as unread 🤔
  20. Welllllll sadly I haven’t seen much of the progress in behaviour, toilet training and independence I’d hoped for ….how many weeks till half term 🤔 The constant rain is just annoying and it’s flipping cold now …just put socks on 😞
  21. Thanks sunnyday, we’re open Wed, I’ve had the usual last minute ‘can I add/swap sessions’ emails and the order ‘coolmilk’ email that means it’s really time to go back, mixed feelings about going back, I spent the day gardening yesterday, fighting the urge to just go in and finish last bits like update registers AGAIN, I can’t believe how much chasing I’ve had to do to the get the paperwork in from new starter parents which doesn’t bode well for funding forms coming back on time or anytime actually🙄 Best Wishes to all going back and thoughts to all of you who won’t get to see your own little people so often x
  22. You might save time louby but if you have to print them how many trees will have to die? Why are they so flippin long 🤷‍♀️ Their whole website is a nightmare to use/find anything, and one of the things that annoys me most is that you can add new staff to the training but can’t remove them when they leave without having to contact them ….and that in itself isn’t simple 😣
  23. I’d ask what their concerns are, explain that you are an equal opportunities provision, all staff are dbs checked as suitable to undertake all aspects of childcare and that all staff are expected to work in all rooms and carry out all duties, and if they still saw a need to be making the request I would suggest that they might be happier in a different setting. If you have a meeting, have a witness (deputy/committee member) with you and record details, how you challenged the discriminatory attitude and the outcome (this is something Ofsted require under the judgment for ‘behaviour & attitudes’.
  24. I always refused to pay the extra for PLA policies and I haven’t looked yet, but apparently it’s all included in your membership now.
  25. This makes me feel better as we’ve never had one either, though I did introduce a Fees/Funding T&Cs a couple of years ago that hasn’t meant a thing as someone just left owing fees and that was the first time ever. where are the weeks going 😞
