Hot flushes In this weather are not fun! I did go for a swim in the sea yesterday which was blissful. First time I have sea swam in a decade (im ashamed to admit that living within half a mile of the sea) then today 89 year old Mum joined me! Was so lovely. That is so special - go zigzag's mum! Most of our nearest beaches are flying 'brown flags' - awful situation Quote

Obviously we do get some sewage discharged in storm weather but not very much and thankfully rarely. 2 Quote
sunnyday Posted July 11 Author Posted July 11 Good morning - 'tis Friday How is everyone? Not long now - end of term/school year is nearly here! Granddog has been just lovely - he will be going home tomorrow - will be 'replaced' with a different granddog next Friday! July is certainly dog sitting month for me - all good very happy to have them. Two youngest grandchildren have had fabulous school reports - very proud of them ❤️ Loving the tennis! Not loving these mad temperatures! Onwards and upwards Have a good weekend all x Quote
Froglet Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Morning! Glad you're you so enjoying your granddogs and grandchildren! I think the hot weather is beginning to get to me - I'm getting up way later than usual and it's throwing me. I did have sorting out the spare room on my TDL for today but am seriously tempted to just sit in the garden and knit/crochet/read this morning while it's still shady and then do the same in my front room this afternoon! This weekend it's the well dressing in my mum and dad's village and my brother is down here for a canoe polo tournament so I will probably go and do those too. Have a good weekend everyone! 1 Quote
louby loo Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Morning all 1st day of the summer break for me 😁 Been to my dance/fitness calss this morning - it was hot!! Now planning on spending the rest of the day doing nothing...😁😁😁 No real plans for the week either😳 I feel totally drained so jut need to rest for the week. (think it's the after effects of the shingles?) Hope everyone has a good week. 4 Quote
Cait Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I’m thinking of getting the sewing machine out of the attic. It’s not seen much action since scrubs and mask making - do you remember those times? Anyone else sewing scrubs? Quote

It all got a s bit silly around here- with hospitals asking people NOT to make any! I seem to like looking at my machine just lately, possibly give it a lttle dust/clean 😂 Quote

Goodness Cait - sewing scrubs that feels like a 'lifetime' away (not that I made any, as you know I can't sew for toffee!) Lovely to see you posting on the Friday thread ❤️ 1 Quote

Private dentist is still in huge debt as he had to remortgage to get all the extra filtration equipment and apparatus he needed as well as paying full staff with only one or two actually working. He’s wanting to sell the practice and retire, but because of the remortgaging he’ll walk into retirement with hardly anything to show for it. So sad. 2 Quote

Gosh - that is really sad and so interesting to have first hand info as I'm sure most people imagine that dentists are absolutely 'rolling in it' (cash) 1 Quote

However that said- i do do live in a high 'implant/fake this n that' area of the country, which could explain things. 😳 Cait -it must be quite awful for your dentist. Covid affected so many people, we lost most of our independant shops- now replaced with coffee shops and nail bars. 😢 1 Quote
louby loo Posted July 18 Posted July 18 😳 .... I'm in early this week! 😂 First week of the summer break and I've done virtually nothing all week! Off to my exercise class now- and it's already getting pretty warn outside... I will need a nice rest this afternnon then! Hope everyone it ok, and have a good weekend all. xx 1 1 Quote
sunnyday Posted July 18 Author Posted July 18 Good morning - 'tis Friday (louby beat me to it!) Phew - agreed louby it is already very warm - going to be a real 'Scorchio' of a day down south before it all breaks down later ☀️🌩️ Have taken delivery of a granddog this morning - this time it is our beautiful Sprocker - she will be here for two weeks 🐶❤️ currently she is in her favourite place - lying on a nice comfy mat by the open French Doors on 'cat watch' - my neighbour has three cats - we won't be seeing them in our garden for the next fortnight! 🤣 My plan today is to get all of my washing through and out on the line - I am winning so far - two loads out and final one in machine now - I don't have a tumble drier - my choice - so I need to be a bit organised before the rains come! Loved watching school children walk past this morning - most carrying gift bags - lucky teachers! Hope everyone okay? Have the best of weekends x 1 1 Quote
Froglet Posted July 18 Posted July 18 My brain’s a bit mushy today - only just realised that it’s Friday! I have done some epic weeding and miss clearing on the path between mine and my neighbour’s house - looks amazing if I do say so myself! 😉 I find that I keep going to check on it’ 😂 Haven’t got any plans for the next week at the moment - my old school doesn’t finish until the 29th so please send some sympathy their way - next week will be a struggle! 1 2 Quote

Oh no 29th - that's horrible for them☹️ Well done on the weeding - so satisfying when you can see a real difference Daughter-in-law was back just after 12 - she had just picked up my two youngest grandchildren from school - she had a sunflower plant in hand and said "please would you 'save my life' and plant this up, we are getting straight off now"! Obviously no problem at all... 1 Quote
Cait Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Well I’ve treated myself to a Brother sewing machine and I’m looking forward to spending some time with it! So now I just need to sell my two vintage Bernina’s. Oh and my bike, as it doesn’t get used - might as well get rid. I’m thinking start of the school holidays could be a good time to sell it. 3 Quote
Mouseketeer Posted July 19 Posted July 19 That’s a wrap, not the easiest school group we’ve ever had and a year of staffing problems so not sorry to see the back of it, but now have a mountain of admin to catch up on, I’m not even sure I remember what my job is anymore 🤷♀️ I dusted off the sewing machine when my little GDaughter arrived …. 2 3 Quote

SueFinanceManager Posted Wednesday at 10:39 Posted Wednesday at 10:39 Oh Mouse that is so cute.....you should be on Sewing Bee - do you watch it? I never cease to be amazed that these people that go on these programs like Sewing Bee and Bake off don't seemed to have done their homework and tried lots of different tasks/recipes in readiness for what is thrown at them lol 1 Quote
sunnyday Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago Good morning - 'tis Friday Hope everyone is okay? Not sure that I have anything even remotely interesting to report from here...although that said said we did have some 'epic' weather here on Monday with the hugest storm which found us experiencing positively biblical thunder, lightening, rain and even hail...many village residents lost internet with 'fried' modems - we were spared so feeling very lucky. Forecast is really good for today fingers crossed that is accurate. Granddog is being an absolute sweetie - she really is a dear little thing - we are one week down with one more to go. Take care all and hope the weekend is kind x 1 1 Quote
louby loo Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Morning all. We had nothing Monday - and I was looking foward to a good storm, very heavy and humid here. 😳 Another very chilled week here too, that said the GD only finished school Tuesday, so 'day's out and treats' will be more so now- and we did manage to go fruit picking between showers yesterday (plums- it took us less than 5 mins to get loads!) I'm a little sad as we had to turn down 'dog sitting' - due to a hyper dog and our 18/19 year old cat. A few years ago she could have easily 'held her ground" with the said dog, but she's now deaf so just not fair on her. Off for a one mile walk to the post office, then back..... only problem is it's bit too early to stop of at the pub for a coffee once down there 😂 Have a good weekend everyone. xx 1 2 Quote

Froglet Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I went to the leavers concert dress rehearsal at my old school this morning and then spent a quick 10 minutes catching up with my old class. Most of them seemed to want to ask me to guess how old they were or to tell me how many sleeps it was until their birthday! I have been trying to arrange for jobs like gutter clearing and I also want to make a 'snagging' list for my house - all those little jobs that need doing. I'm not good at this kind of thing so I really have to make myself! I think that all the knitting and crochet I've been doing whilst it's been good for my head hasn't been good for my arm - my elbow is painful when I move it and all the googling I've done tells me I need to rest it but it's really hard to know what to do with myself! There is tons of building work happening in my road at the moment so I'm looking forward to a peaceful weekend without it and with the opportunity to actually park outside my house! 1 Quote
