sunnyday Posted August 22 Author Posted August 22 Good morning - 'tis Friday What a horrible week we have had ... dear friend died Monday night, not expected at all and yesterday my DIL's mum suffered a TIA. I have had to educate myself pretty fast about TIAs - I had no real understanding of the implications for her... Hope that everyone else is having a better time and can enjoy the long weekend x 4 Quote
Froglet Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Oh Sunnyday, I’m so sorry to hear about your tough week. Sending good wishes for you and your family. Apart from lots of long walks with my doggy house guest I have done very little. I am feeling very lazy and need to do something about that next week! 1 Quote
sunnyday Posted August 22 Author Posted August 22 On a much brighter note - Mr S and I have been to watch our youngest granddaughters drama school's production of 'Annie' this afternoon and very good it was too - very proud nana and granddad! 1 1 Quote
louby loo Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Late to the Friday chat - but just had a lovely week in Norfolk. Sorry to hear about your week sunnyday. TIA's are a worry, but often a a early warning sign. My brother had one about 6/7 years ago, and is absolutely fine now, and they thought Andy had one about 10 years ago - but it turned out to be a return to migraines (he used to get really bad ones in his20/30s). The good news is they are now both in 'the system' and get regaular health check-ups. Andy has his next regular MRI scan next Sunday. Good that your week ended well with a little show 🎶🎶💃🎶🎶 Froglet- I love that you are enjoying the dog walks 🐕 😊 I just have one more week left before I return to work- I have no list, and I have done nothing much workwise this summer!!! (I may need to put a little effort in this week... well at least do the new registers 🙄😂) 2 Quote
zigzag Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Sorry to hear about your week Sunnyday. Louby loo, how do you feel about going back? Am I right in thinking it’s your last year? 1 Quote

If I'm totally honest if the scouts/landlords rang me this afternoon saying 'sorry, you can't have the hall anymore' I wouldn't loose any sleep tonight! 😂 I am neither looking foward or dreading going back. I used to enjoy spending time during the summer hols planning (not planning planning!) our return - updating policies, thinking about resources, going in to tidy cupboard and all that gumph etc. Then towards the end of the hols I would actually be looking fowards to returning, having more structure to my day and meeting people. This year zilch interest whatsoever! - I guess it a case of "when you know you know" .... and I definitely know it's time. I don't even feel any guilt about not doing anything 😂 1 2 Quote

Good that your week ended well with a little show 🎶🎶💃🎶🎶 Thanks so much louby - that is all so encouraging. I don't usually 'knock' the NHS - Mr S has received some outstanding treatment...however, this all happened on Thursday, my DIL went straight down, 111 said ambulance unless you have someone to take you - that was easy my DIL drove her to hospital where 'eventually' she was given a CT scan and that was how they diagnosed TIA as opposed to Stroke - not too bad so far...but then they released her at 8:15pm with no info apart from call in at Tesco and buy some aspirin - that's dreadful. Thankfully the 'specialist team' rang on Friday morning and gave her further instructions e.g. do not drive for at least 28 days... Oh well, onwards and upwards, she now has a MRI scan and assessment tomorrow morning so hopefully this will be informative and should lead to appropriate meds being prescribed. 3 Quote
Cait Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Hi all! I well remember that feeling of ennui before the September return. Start planning your extrication if you can! I remember thinking that stacking shelves at Tesco sounded more appealing than going into work! the fires on the moors are still burning. These views are looking across scarborough 2 Quote

sunnyday Posted August 29 Author Posted August 29 Good morning - 'tis Friday Very busy, but much better week here - phew It is absolutely lashing it down as I write this - I know that we desperately need the rain - but it is battering my flowers that I have cared for so diligently 🙃 Hope everyone is okay? Happy weekend all x 1 Quote

Hope everyone has had a good week, and will have a good weekend too. Well it's my last 'free day' 😂 Anybody want to tell me what I should have done if I had a 'to do list'? 😂😂 I've printed a register, new names will be done next week during 'work-time' We only have returners on the first week- so they can use their old names (I am cutting down on printing and especially laminating- we did used to do a new set for everyone each year) I have a new diary to update- but again I'll do that monday morning at work 😮😂 Nothing else done- I really am holding out on only working during 'working time' 😊 ........ athough I have literally just remembered I need to order milk delivery!!!!! Good job I remembered that- as our local shop is closed for a refit. x 1 Quote
Froglet Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Louby - that sounds like just the right amount of a TDL. Sunnyday, I’m glad this week has been better - I hope DIL’s mum is doing ok. I have done a fair bit of crocheting this week - making birds from a subscription I have. They’re lovely and sit in my front window watching the world go by! I also cut back loads of ivy in my garden and painted the shed which is looking very smart. I’m trying to think of something to do next week. I have that new year feeling but think that I will feel unsure of myself when everyone else is going back to work. I’m pondering a fire pit for my garden - I quite fancy some cosy autumnal evenings sat out in the back garden. It’s far to hot to sit there in the summer! 2 Quote
sunnyday Posted August 29 Author Posted August 29 Oh Crikey - I spoke far too soon - DIL's mum is back in hospital - 'hopefully' that sounds odd but anyway 'hopefully' another TIA as opposed to a major stroke - she went in by ambulance this time as literally no one could get to her quickly, the paramedics made the decision to take her to a different hospital and said "if this was my parent, this is where I would want her to be" she now has her brother with her and DIL is on her way...she has had another CT scan and is now waiting for a repeat MRI. Louby - sounds like you have it covered - I did have a little 'swoon' when I read 'new diary' Young froglet - youngest son and DIL have a lovely firepit which they use a fair bit in the autumn 1 Quote

EYFS updates- pretty straighward for us really, it's how we work anyway. ( may have a quick read through this afternoon- the one page changes that is- not the whole EYFS document 😂) Nutritional - we've tried to stick to that already, we only provide snacks- and they have always just been fruit, breadstick milk/water. . Our lunch boxes are usually pretty good, but we do give out a leaflet when the child starts. Re birthdays cakes etc... well our children tend to bring sweets (fun size) and we give these out at then end of the session when the parents/carers collect, we remind children they can only have when ok with parents - and I'm sticking with that!🤷♀️ Climate plan- my view is don't overthink it! Mine, when I write it next week will pretty much say- Recyle everthing we can, print less stuff, look after resources and buy secondhand and donate when possible! Oh, and use less chemicals ie hot saopy water for whiping tables down etc. Hoping all goes well for you next week. 1 Quote

Mouseketeer Posted Sunday at 09:31 Posted Sunday at 09:31 (edited) Thanks Louby, on the whole our lunch boxes are ok, I’m sure there will be back lash from some when we tighten up the ‘avoid’ list …..but we can only lead the horse. Like you, most of the changes I already thought were a ‘thing’ anyway, I’ll write a separate attendance policy as absences are currently covered in something else. I have been deputyless for most of last term (3rd in charge is acting) and now not returning this term which isn’t helping, they were, now aren’t so I’ve had to redo registers, rotas, move key chn etc which I really didn’t need this late on, and my dad passed away at the start of the holiday so a lot to process and do there, but thank goodness I had broken up x Edited Sunday at 09:32 by Mouseketeer Quote

I now subscribe to tw**kl (not sure if I'm allowed to put the full name) yes it is a tad expensive- but they seem pretty 'on it' and it's actually saved me a lot of time and 'mental energy'. take care xx 1 Quote

You walk around a meandering route whilst looking at lots of pretty things (including stationery) that you don't really need whilst listening gentle tranquil classical music!
