SueJ Posted September 9, 2015 Share Posted September 9, 2015 Over the years I have had to fight tooth and nail to "back year" children with complex SEN. The LA have really hated doing it their biggest argument being that it could result in children being able to leave school without taking their GCSEs because they won't have reached the correct year group to take their GCSEs by the time they reach school leaving age. Parents have always had the threat that even if a child is "back yeared" they could be bumped back up a year once in school. Until the powers that be address the "what happens if" question regarding school leaving age and taking of exams further up the educational food chain then no consisten proper plan will ever be in place. I hate to sound like an old fuddy duddy but things seemed to work a bit better when we had staggered intakes during the reception year rather than this mass hoovering up for September starters 5 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
