Registration Forms

Does anyone know, if we should be asking for NHS numbers on our registration forms.

We have recently purchased Instant Nursery Manager software and its one of the fields on there to complete. Is there any reason why we shouldn't be asking for this?

We ask for NHS numbers on our registration forms as the one time I needed to take a child to the local GP the first thing they asked for was this before they would even look at the child as the child was not registered with that particular surgery. Just in case you were wondering the child had snipped the bit of skin between two fingers and it would not stop bleeding despite our best efforts and as is always the case neither the parents or the emergency contacts were contactable!

Might add this to our registration form as it's something you need if they are funded 2 year olds

Sam, I wasn't aware that we needed this for funded 2 year olds (must have overlooked that bit ) can you please let me know where it says that as I always like to show parents why I am asking for details like that.

we get asked for this by SALT if we are talking about a child.Hadn't thought about asking for it on the registration!

We need a NI number for parents but not NHS number for children in our area.

We need a NI for parent too for the 2 year old funding but never been aware of needing number for child? A lot of ours don't know/ won't provide doctor or HV so not sure they would be happy giving this?

When we set up a child on our LEA's tracking and assessment system for the 2 year old funding it is one of the things it asks for. There is a way around it but it gets complicated the more children you add without NHS numbers

Get away with you - you've got plenty of time to put any changes in place before you start dishing out your new starter paperwork surely

Our parents have to provide NI number for 2 yr funding but not NHS- so maybe a local thing.

When parents apply for the funding they need their own NI number, but as a setting we need the child's NHS number for the tracking and assessment system to show the progress the children make between starting on the funding and finishing when they go onto 3 year old funding.
