Rea
Is it full fat for under 5s then they can have semi skimmed? Seem to recall something along those lines
fimbo
im getting conflicting messages - 1 staff member says full fat up to age 5, another says full fat up to 2 - then they can have semi skim as it has more calcium in than full fat ? also just spoke to cool milk and they only supply full fat to under 2's ? Guest
We have semi skimmed from cool milk too - In the past when we did give the children full fat harldy any of them drank it - now it all goes!
Guest SamG
When my youngest (now aged 7) was small my HV said he could have full fat from 12 months and semi skimmed from 2yrs. We use cool milk at work and they provide semi skimmed for the children as they are all over 2 and they send the equivalent of a third of a pint per child per day. Hope this helps
suebear
A leaflet in this months PLA magazine says 3-4oz (100-120ml) whole cows milk as a drink. Give whole milk rather than lower fat milk from 12 months of age until at least 2 years of age.
kristina
We also use Coolmilk and receive 1/3rd pint per child per day of semi-skimmed (to stop obesity in over 2's apparently!!). Kris
eyfs1966
Hi, interesting thread. For those of you who are using the Cool milk scheme, how are you finding it? Is it really as paperwork free and easy as the website suggests? Thinking of applying, and would love some impartial reviews.
Guest SamG
The only paperwork we seem to get is a delivery note from the dairy. I do know that we get a pdf file via email each week and if we want to change the quantity of milk we get we are supposed to change the file and send it back, trouble is our manageress can't change the pdf file so just emails or phones with any changes. Guest
Cool Milk an absolute nightmare! No point changing quantities as they never listen. Told us to chuck it down the sink if we had too much! Often ended up with 11 left over pints each week. Not sure if cool milk is regional - but severe communication breakdown on their part. laura
We have cool milk and have had no problems - so much easier than faffing around with receipts for 3 years through the milk welfare!
Guest
It is over 2's can have semi skimmed, this is all we are supplied with from cool milk and when i asked about it was told that is the recomendation from the government
Guest
We use cool milk and had a few hiccups at the start but now it's fine. Our problem is getting the delivery person to actually leave the amount we have ordered! We reduced it for this term to avoid wastage and he insists on leaving the previous amount - still, we just take it home at the end of the week! Cool milk have been really proactive at trying to get this sorted for us.
