I'm really pleased for you - well done! Hope we have a similar experience when they come, but please don't make it this term! (Do you think I might have jinxed it now :o? )

How on earth did I miss this

A huge well done to you and your team - it certainly all looked good to me when I popped in en route to Brum? last year!!

Anytips? - we're waiting anyday now!

Well I hadn't submitted my SEF, but fortunately had a copy in the setting to hand her, although it wasn't completed and I hadn't graded myself. She pushed me to say what I would have graded us if I had finished which I thought was interesting - I think she wanted to see if we were on the same page so to speak. She asked specific questions about the areas of the SEF I hadn't completed such as sustainability.

I expected her to grill us on safeguarding however she only had a brief chat about it with our newest staff member who has been with us for three weeks. Luckily she's our senior practitioner so was able to 'talk the talk' so to speak. She was interested in the recruitment procedures for our newest recruit including references etc. She was also interested in how much safeguarding training we'd all had, and at what sort of level.

I handed her my Operational Plan and my policy folder and she ploughed her way through both in some detail. She also spent a long time looking at our children's special books which she praised quite highly - she particularly appreciated the annotated photographs because they provided evidence of the range of activities and experiences that we offer that she couldn't possibly have seen in the two mornings she spent with us.

She spent a good while talking to parents about their views too! She had clearly done her homework very carefully - she knew all about the complaint we'd had and was very reassuring about the outcome. She knew details such as my role in the group prior to taking it over, asked how my studies were going etc.

Can't really think of anything else - hope that helps!

Thanks for that - especially the bit about the SEF - ours is still not complete, but we're having so much trouble with our owner at the moment, that we're not really motivated to finish it!!
