    I do hope all LA do see sense and pay. It's really not the setting's fault and we need to respect parental wishes. PLUS in many areas it is safer to stay at home if have that option.

    I did wonder if this whole thing is a ploy to close settings by the back door. I fully agree that some parents do need full day-care in order to work, often term-time preschool type environments do 'shared care' so obviously these parents do already have a 'plan B' regarding care. Some (many) preschools will financially need to close, therefore many children will actually get to stay at home. The government has basically left childcare providers to sort out this whole issue out themselves! Whilst they remain the good guys by keeping 'all' early years open. I've not explained that very well, but I know what I mean.

    Yes! I have literally just had confirmation that ours will pay! They say they are going against the gov guidance on this one, although they are still fighting for a change in the guidance. This is a huge weight of my mind.

    21st for us. It's something like 'needs to be in attendance from that day'. We submit once per term, with the option to add late claims usually 3 weeks or so from the end of term. The wording on the emails people have received says as long as the child 'could' start if they wished with no restrictions placed on them. I really am hoping this is so. Staff have even said they would like to try offering some kind of online activities - which we will do if funded. We actually had real giggles today demonstrating our ideas to the rest of the team! (while 4 children played happily with the barbies and diggers) We were like a proper old fashioned playgroup 🤣😂

    Although I'm taking it with a pinch of salt at the moment (who remembers March's financial fiasco 😭) our LA seems to be saying they will honour funding as long as a child can take up a place- meaning if we say we are only taking KW and vulnerable then we will not get full funding for all children. A few settings have had replies to enquires stating this, but I haven't had a reply confirming this yet. (I did only ask a few hours ago) Based on todays numbers I can work with it if we can keep our numbers low.

    We had four children today out of 22. (we have delayed our four new starters until now Feb though) I was certainly safe 😂. With cases around 1 in every 30 households- we are going for the 'childcare/baby sitting option'. We had a play area set up well away form staff and we just observed and interacted from a distance. If funding is paid, and we can keep to very low numbers I think we can make this work. No funding and we will close to all - including key workers! and put all staff on furlough.

    Well, I'm thinking we can claim furlough like another business? The pre-paid funding for the spring term might cause an issue... but I'd offer to pay it back at £5 a week 😂

    I'm really struggling to not put a sarcastic post on our Facebook page 🤣 On the whole our parents have been fantastic in supporting us- but you always have one and they like to try and stir others up!

    Your'e not going to make me read that are you 😱...... it's not even 7.30 and I've had to classes of wine - and I'm not even a drinker!!

    Have you looked into it? I'm at the point I really don't want to go in, and I don't feel I should ask my staff to if I don't. I think for owners it's a really stressful time because at the end of the day it's all on our head! I have member of staff that is 72/3 type 2 diabetic, overweight and her husband is in the vulnerable group- but insists on working as she says she needs the money. I'm pretty sure her family would have something to say if anything happened to her or her husband. I can't afford to pay her to stay off as I'd also have to pay cover. I also have staff that need to earn a wage the help pay the food bills (or in one case a massive vet bill) Note- I'm not being judgmental about being overweigh - I could do with losing a fair few lbs myself

    If we are not getting funding for the children not attending does this mean we can now furlough our staff?

    Listening to the news now, and I'm now very concerned. 1 in 50 have the virus. This is an average- so I'm guessing in my area this is possibly higher

    How long are you staying shut for? I've been getting txt today asking if we are still opening tomorrow- I think parents are getting a bit twitchy now.

    Yes, the first five years are the most important - except this is not compulsory. GCSE and A Levels are not important.

    Actually, I wonder what would happen if we invited our local council to come in and do a covid safety compliance check? I'm pretty sure we'd fail because our hall is pretty rough 😳

    I'm seriously thinking of sending myself my section 44 letter. I'm almost ready to throw the towel to be honest, I just feel to old for this now. Tomorrow we're in with no children, and until the 18th we have an average of 9 children a day. I going to see if my deputy wants to take over completely, and I'll just be admin from home and emergency cover is really needed.
