SO just for clarity ...the early years alliance has created a portal for members. Most of us should have had log in details sent but they don't appear to have been sent to all. As many of us on here are members of the EYA we have access to updates on publications but without the portal login we can't get on to the system. Like Debbrad i had also been trying to get on to get updates. I'm afraid i have had to email them....but still to no avail

Recipes for slime and anything messy and fun!

my favourites are oobleck ...cornflour and water (i think about 4-1 ratio??) cloud dough 7 flour to 1 baby oil and my playdough 4 cups flour 1 salt 4 tablespoons oil 1 tablespoon cream of tartar and then add 3-4 cups of BOILING water and mix then knead. (add scents/colours to dry ingredients if needed) -

if you record incidents on the accident files are these added to learning journals? -
ok i can see why this might be done like this. have you thought about whether you will do a buttercream dome or will you do a cake dome (i think that much buttercream might be a bit much?? normally i would use fondant but if you are going for a buttercream dome then i can see the watery fondant system would be lighter and therefore work.

leave that with me for a bit !! i'll go and have a think. never done the fondant watered down thing!!! interesting . As to putting the sponge in the fridge i would always recommend doing a crumb coat of butter icing then putting in a fridge to set. Sometimes you even need to do 2 coats of this if the result needs to be really smooth. Never use 'fresh' cake ....best baked the day before!

there are plenty of points in both i disagree with but find myself getting irritated with B25, i just don't like the way its phrased ...i feel its really patronising. Having watched and had some training from Julian i feel i better understand the DM's and where he is going with them but am keen to explore the possibilities of our own curriculum too. Julians attitude of nothing is ruled out but everything is ruled in (re IT etc), take your time to sort things out and spend more time concentrating on issues/difficulties makes sense. but i'm struggling with how i'm going to work it all out!!!

Random question....why is it that when early years is mainly managed and staffed by women that there are so many men leading us? I have just watched several videos about new DM's and curriculum for September and all of them were led by men....Why?????? are women not seen as being good enough? intelligent enough? or do we just allow ourselves to be badly paid employees??????? I wouldn't mind if any of them had actually answered the actual question they were posed!!! sorry...ranting!

So i am looking forward (for the first time in a year) to planning September and our curriculum. How is everyone feeling about the changes? what are you planning to do differently? how are you feeling about it? (personally i think after the year we have had change seems to be overwhelming me) How do people feel about the emphasis on problems and issues, areas of concerns etc, oral hygiene and working with health visitors?!?!?!
