  1. The Eden project is well worth a visit. The lost gardens of Heligan if you are interested in gardens. (not sure what time of year you are going though) St Ives is lovely and I think about an hours drive away. (Watch out for the seagulls if eating outside). If you come down to the lizard peninsular, which is the most southerly point you have to visit Kynance beach which is just outside the Lizard village. You have to get an Anne’s pasty if visiting, one of the best pasties around! And if you do make the journey down visit Coverack cove and go to Roskillys farm near st keverne. Roskillys is a working farm but has the most lovely restaurant in the old milking parlour and courtyard. They are famous for their ice creams and the food is amazing. There are beautiful woods and ponds to walk around and animals to feed. I don’t know the part of Cornwall that you are staying in that well but will ask my sons partner who is from Padstow as she will know better than me. What age range are you going to be in your group?
  2. Belated happy new year! Better late than never! Hope all the poorly people are better and the spring term has started well. Gezabel, which part of Cornwall are you coming to? Let me know and I will see if I can give you some recommendations.
  3. No snow here thank goodness but my god Bert is making himself known! Bert was my Grandads name! I could do with having a few more hot flushes as it’s very cold here! Mousie, that’s really sad that the children wanted to go in, I’m quite shocked by that. Sign of the times do you think? Have a good weekend all, stay warm and safe.
  4. Had the whole of the local beach to myself this morning! Dogs had an amazing time.
  5. Hello Sunnyday, Just where do the weeks go? Was poorly last weekend with a Covid similar virus, which really wiped me out, then very kindly passed it on to my husband! So an iffy week! Have booked a hotel in Kent for December as we are going up to see my son in London for the first time since he moved. I literally cannot wait to give him the biggest hug, I may not let go! Going to spend the day and evening in London with him and planning to do lots of Christmas sightseeing, markets and the lights. Quite exciting as it’s been years since I went into London. Nothing exciting planned for the weekend, got one job tomorrow and then think we will go out for Sunday dinner as a treat and an excuse not to cook! Looking forward to seeing my other son and his fiancée as they have been in Cyprus for the week. Have a lovely weekend all. Xx
  6. Wishing you a very happy birthday. Hope you are having a lovely day. Xxx
  7. I know, me neither! She’s truly amazing although I do get frustrated with her sometimes when she practically crawls home with tiredness, but it’s what keeps her going.
  8. It went through Cornwall in the night and is settling a bit here now. Just off for Mums birthday lunch to Roskillys (if you know you know) she’s 89 today! And this is the women who in one week does Pilates, two fitness classes, social club, pub quiz, cooks at the old peoples community lunch, plays table tennis, goes to writing group and walks everyday! She is amazing!
  9. Happy birthday Sunnyday, hope you have a super day. Xx
  10. Quiet week here both work wise and adjusting to life without a son in the house! Absolutely delighted to report he is very happy and settled and loving London life and got a job on Wednesday which starts on Monday. So proud of him, but do miss him.
  11. Sue!🤨🤨it’s October, what an earth has come over you? Don’t let the “keep it in December” team down!
  12. Glad you are feeling better Sunnyday.
  13. Hope you soon feel better Sunnyday. Look after yourself. Well my youngest son is moving to London tomorrow, he’s so excited. I am however, an emotional mess! Can’t believe both my boys have now grown and flown the nest. Just where does time go? Need to put my big girl pants on to say goodbye tomorrow!
  14. We’ve had quite good weather this week but my brother in Kent said the rain has been relentless. Been gorgeous today but the rain has just started and meant to be here all week! Will be digging those welly boots out me thinks! Have a lovely weekend all.
  15. I have never heard of anyone mowing around daisies! He must really have loved them to do this. Sending you love Cait. Xx
  16. Dear Cait, so very very sorry to hear your news. I hope him being at home and peaceful will bring you comfort. You are in my thoughts. Xx
  17. Amazing total Sunnyday. I just think it’s a cause so close to literally everybody that people are always generous. Mousketer have you had flooding where you are? Some places looked awful on the news this morning.
  18. Louby what a nightmare. Hope it gets sorted soon. Sunnyday enjoy not cooking for two days, what a treat. Although saying that I am loving being back in a kitchen, I’m sure the novelty will wear off soon though! What a fab week of weather we have had, it’s been a real beauty here. Shame about what the weekend is going to bring! Wellies back out I think. Have a lovely weekend all.
  19. Beautiful day here today. Quick freshen up ready for guests at the cottage, then took Mum to Sainsbury’s as she has just returned home from Kent and desperately needed some shopping but was feeling unwell with a chest infection bless her. I was delighted when she let me drive her in instead of being her usual pig headed independent self! Then took the dog up on the cliffs for a beautiful walk, wow was it hot! Let’s hope it lasts. Just looked out the window and it’s a beautiful sky tonight. Hope the weekend is kind to everyone.
  20. Beautiful morning here and then the rain set in! Hubby and son have been cutting the oak counter tops today and we’re literally on the last one as the rain started. Luckily we have a big parasol and that kept the rain of the wood! Kitchen is coming on but due to unforeseen glitches it’s nowhere near finished and hubby returning to work on Monday(for a rest) so the rest is going to be done over weekends😬 I used to love the back to school feeling in September and then by the end of the first week used to countdown to half term!🤣 Off to our sons tonight for tea. He’s cooking beef bourguignon so will make a break from limited shed cooking! Have a love,y restful weekend all.
  21. All the best to everyone going back next week. Mouseketeer reading your post brings back memories and I’m so very glad I am not doing that anymore! Hope you have a smooth start to the term. cannot wait for it to get a bit quieter down here again, which it should do this week. As Mum said it will be the newly weds and nearly dead’s (or golden oldies) for the next couple of months. Still no kitchen! But all the prep work is done, self levelling floor went down yesterday, so waiting for that to dry then it’s all action stations for kitchen fitting next week. I cannot wait. Have a lovely weekend all.
  22. That’s very funny Sunnyday. Nothing like looking for a bit of Granny sympathy!
  23. Such unsettled weather at the moment. One minute it’s hot and the next it’s pouring and windy! Well my husband is currently stripping out our kitchen ready to fit a new one. We are literally getting rid of everything right down to the flooring. So currently cooking in the shed with. Slow cooker, air fryer and a tiny hob plate! The biggest challenge for me is surviving the upheaval and mess, which I don’t do well! It will be worth it in the end though. I guess the summer hols are coming to an end soon? (I am so out of touch now I have no idea on term dates) so I hope you all enjoy the rest of the time you have. Happy weekend all.
  24. I recently made focaccia for the first time and it was delicious. I use a stand mixer and you have to have the dough really, really wet. I then transferred it into an oiled rectangular container for its first prove and then into a baking tin for the second prove. I also found really digging your fingers in really deep over and over before the cooking really helped the texture. Well today’s weather has been lovely which after the horrible weather yesterday is a relief. My Granddog went into be spayed yesterday but it couldn’t be done as she is having a false pregnancy! It’s a shame as we were all dreading it as she is a funny little soul who does not like strangers. It’s just prolonging the agony now! Have a good weekend all.
  25. I just don’t know where the weeks go! Time seems to fly by so quickly! Lots of jobs this week and much dog walking, my dog and grand dog. It’s very busy down here and counting down the weeks until it starts to quieten down a bit! Been loving the Olympics and have watched as much as possible. Hope Zebedee is beginning to feel better. Xx
