  1. Sorry I’m late again! Gosh reading your posts about work make me so glad that I’m not dealing with all that anymore. Sorry I know that is completely unhelpful but I really get anxious feelings when I read them. Well the weather has been truly biblical down here this weekend! Friday we had a power cut from 2pm until 2am (that was fun) made us realise just how much we rely on electricity not just for the day to day but also entertainment. Quite a sad reflection actually. Luckily my husband still managed to fly from Newquay to London to see Spurs play at their stadium. A bucket list item ticked off for him and our son. I had a very big house clean yesterday (have been dog sitting for two extra dogs) and my goodness they both shed! Then I put up the tree and a few decorations. Very early for me but it’s so dark and gloomy that I thought the fairy lights would be bright and cheerful! Excited to watch the F1 finale this afternoon, very unpatriotic of me but I don’t actually want Norris to win, I want Max too. Enjoy the rest of the weekend all. Xx
  2. I agree Sunnyday. My elderly lady yesterday said, the next time you come we will be in December! I think I’m in denial that we are actually at that time of year! Well today I did a very long dog walk as we had some beautiful sunshine and thought I better make the most of it. It was lovely. Still spotting plants that are flowering out of season! It was a rhododendron yesterday! The world’s gone mad! Have a lovely weekend all.
  3. My husband is flying up on the 6th to see our son and go to the Tottenham game, maybe I’ll hitch a lift to Gatwick and you can pick me up on the way!🤣
  4. Careful froglet you may end up with all us Friday crew!
  5. Ohhh that cake sounds interesting, let us know the verdict.
  6. Perfect! You know us so well!
  7. We had a proper hard frost this morning, which is rare for right down the end of Cornwall! Was blooming freezing. But it’s been a beautiful day. Cait that blanket makes me smile, it’s just like one that my Mum made decades ago and is a core memory of always being there when I was growing up. I think she probably still has it, being the hoarder that she is! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and the temp warms up for you all. Xx
  8. Hello I’m here, sorry I missed last week and am late this week! I love the Friday catch ups, don’t stop Sunnyday! All good here, have finally got over the virus that I came home from holiday with! Took long enough. Have been adjusting to very reduced working hours, all the holiday cleans have stopped and one of my regulars has been away for a couple of months so feeling a bit weird adjusting after a busy summer. My beautiful grandson is doing really well, he is now nine weeks old (where does the time go?) just starting to get the smiles and chuckles now which just melts me. Wow it really is a special feeling being a grandma isn’t it? Just love it. Our weather has been unseasonably warm, but pleased to say it’s starting to feel chillier today. It’s crazy, the camellias are in full flower and the narcissus have been flowering for ages! I find the lack of seasons very unnerving! I hope everyone has a lovely week and promise not to be late to the Friday register next week!
  9. Happy birthday Froglet, hope you have a lovely day. 🎂🥳 xx
  10. I’m over a week late to the Friday thread. Have been away for the week to celebrate my Mums 90th. We hired a massive house in Devon (sleeps 20) and gave her the best celebration. We did lots of fun things, lovely walks and just enjoyed spending time with the extended family. Not going to lie, I was very glad to come home as the four children are not disciplined and quite badly behaved which I do find very wearing by the end of the week. This is my Mum on her birthday brunch and when she beat us at bowling!! Hope you had a good birthday Sunnyday, belated birthday wishes to you.
  11. A bit late to the register this week! The storm wasn’t too bad down here thank goodness. I’m absolutely loving being a Nana, my heart just swells to twice the size when I look at him. Can’t wait for the fun adventures that we will share in the future. just off to work, then roast with all the family. Have a lovely Sunday all.
  12. Oh Cait, so sad to read this. I’m so sorry for you. We are so blessed to have dogs in our lives but the time is just too short. How amazing that she stayed with you for exactly a year after losing your husband. I’m sending you the biggest virtual hug. Xxx
  13. Good afternoon, the weather is not glorious but it’s actually DRY! So will take that any day over the miserable rain that we have had. I’m so glad that I was organised this year and did quite an early allotment and garden clean up! Good job as we seem to have gone straight into winter! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. Xx
  14. Late to posting again. But a special arrival on Thursday! First Grandchild was born, three and a half weeks early! All is well and they came home today. We got to meet him yesterday and oh my goodness, he is beautiful! Edwin Robert. I’m a very proud lady as you can see!
  15. Only just catching up on here. Mousie so very sorry to hear about your Dad. Be kind to yourself. Xxx
  16. Sorry to hear about your week Sunnyday. Louby loo, how do you feel about going back? Am I right in thinking it’s your last year?
  17. Sunnyday how lovely that the older dog now has a new lease of life. Dogs are so very special aren’t they. It’s become a joke in my family that I am turning into the mad dog women! (Proud to be) Hope everyone gets some cooler temperatures soon. Enjoy the weekend.
  18. True story!
  19. Cait that must be very very difficult going through and parting with your late husbands treasures. Sounds like you are doing well though. How fantastic that the museums and railway associations have taken some, lovely to think they have moved onto good homes. I’m sure your husband would approve. What is it with men and the whole this useless bit of rubbish might come in handy one day? My husband does this with bits of steel and wood. The thing he has most of though is rags! He can’t suffer to see me chuck an old duvet, pillow case, t-shirt etc. He has to have them! Even though he has bags and bags of them! And he really does not love decorating that much that he needs all those dust sheets! He’s just finished repainting the front porch and put new carpet tiles down BUT he’s been talking about doing that for FIVE YEARS!
  20. Hoping to get a swim in sometime over the weekend if the weather stays nice. Work in the morning then going to the Cornish gig (rowing) event at our local beach, hopefully to sit in the sunshine and enjoy! Have a fab weekend all.
  21. We are incredibly lucky with our three local beaches. Stunning water, so clear. Obviously we do get some sewage discharged in storm weather but not very much and thankfully rarely.
  22. I know we haven’t had it as hot here as you guys have up country, but it’s way too hot for my peri menopausal body! Hot flushes In this weather are not fun! I did go for a swim in the sea yesterday which was blissful. First time I have sea swam in a decade (im ashamed to admit that living within half a mile of the sea) then today 89 year old Mum joined me! Was so lovely.
  23. Hope the Granddog was ok Sunnyday! And how lovely for that Mum to email you! This reminded me of something that happened a couple of weeks ago. Whilst out walking the dogs I walked past a house and some of my old pre-school children (now giant teenagers were sat in the garden) as I went past I just said “Hello boys”. As I walked away I heard one of them ask who I was. One of the other lads said “she was our teacher at pre-school” They then started discussing their memories of a craft activity we had done! I walked away with the biggest smile on my face! The weather here is so humid (not used to that down here) flipping boiling doing my changeover today! Hoping it’s more bearable for the weekend as have a few changeovers to get through. Well I had the most beautiful bouquet delivered today, such a lovely surprise. A thank you present from one of my clients. So kind, made me a bit emotional! Have a great weekend all.
  24. Louby I miss absolutely NOTHING about it! And I still cannot believe I am saying that. I am totally running my life in year starting in January and have no clue of half terms etc! I love it! I just wish my Dad could have seen me leave and enjoy having left so much. He knew I had handed my notice in but died before I actually left. He said to me one day “you won’t go back will you?” I think he would have been so happy to see me stress free. I honestly think that you naturally know when the time is right to finally leave. It certainly was my time. And so glad that the pre-school has gone on to expand into full days and now takes babies! Which is what needed to happen, but I just didn’t have the commitment or energy to do it.
  25. This weather just makes life so much better doesn't it! Sunnyday I completely agree with you, once my job is done by mid morning the rest of the day is mine! I absolutely love it. Have done early dogs walks this week and have enjoyed a few paddles in the sea. Got a busy weekend of changeovers which is going to be hot but hopefully they will be reasonably quick! Have a lovely weekend all.
