Emma Bailey_902595195 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Hello, Could I just ask people that work in a Preschool setting whether they send the children's end of year reports to their school that they will be starting in or just send a copy home to the parents? Thank you in advance Emma Quote
louby loo Posted June 15 Posted June 15 We don't do end of year reports 🙀 We do ask our feeder schools if they want them and they always tell us not to bother. That said, they do come in and visit the children in the setting. We feed three schools, however if we do have a odd 'out of area' different school we do offer a report- but again they usually only want an over the phone chat with the key-person. We are a small'ish setting so we work closely with parents anyway, also they get a Memory Book wheh the child leaves so I dont think they even notice they don't get a report. Our LA would love us to use their transition document though! 🤣 1 Quote
finleysmaid Posted June 22 Posted June 22 we do end of year reports as well as termly feedbacks. All reports are sent to new schools with parental permission. We don't have any connection with some of our ongoing schools as we cover quite a wide area so this means the schools do at least have some information on the children. Our schools do not get the names of previous settings so we need to be careful to ensure there is sufficient transition. 3 1 Quote
Mouseketeer Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Hi, we use custom reports to write end of year reports for our leavers, thankfully we don’t have to print many as most transition to a local school using tapestry so we can just transfer, they’re quite basic, a little in what they can do in each area, any support given and how they like to learn, our parents complete a form from county (well most do) that is passed on to school also. 1 1 Quote
finleysmaid Posted June 30 Posted June 30 interestingly was told by a school the other day that schools dont do things like tapestry any longer! Is this something else people are finding ...and why? Quote

sunnyday Posted July 1 Posted July 1 I have been out of the loop for three years now (almost) but I cannot conceive of not preparing 'Transition reports' for primary schools and for parents - it just felt like finishing the 'job' properly! 1 1 Quote
Cait Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Yes, absolutely! And also some lovely comments for parents to treasure forever Quote
