MarshaD
Had a quick search but couldn’t find anything... what discount do people generally offer staff?
finleysmaid
Most of our children are funded so staff's children would get 100% discount on any fees due on top of that.
zigzag
When my children attended and were not funded I was not charged.
FSFRebecca
We offer 15% to our staff. They're not allowed to be with their own children in nursery. I have a separate piece of contract for the members of staff for whom this is relevant: Terms and conditions for parents who are also staff.docx

Cait
I found I needed to be careful with this, as allowing the child of a staff member to attend for free or discounted was seen as giving her a pay increase above what the others were getting. It needs to be thought through carefully and discussed at staff meeting if you don't already have it in your policy. The rest of the staff need to be totally on board with whatever is decided, plus the Mum needs to know that her child won't be singled out for special treatment, and will be subject to the same sanctions as all the others if need be. It's a tricky one with key groups too as the child will naturally gravitate to Mum, or want to be up on her knee at storytime or whatever. Good luck! 2

Yes, I agree - we discussed it as a whole staff when we very first started
Stargrower
I give 25% discount increasing by 5% each year. Children are not allowed to be in the room that their parent works in.
finleysmaid
I think there have been some new rules about this recently too, to make sure that any fees paid by staff do not come directly out of their wages as this may take them below the minimum wage amount and would be deemed as unlawful. (Just in case you weren't an HR expert!!! )

FM is right, we had a letter from HMRC a couple of weeks ago about settings not doing that. 1
