Guest
Anyone recently been inspected? If so what questions did they ask a staff member about their key children? Someone I work with is worrying about what depth the questioning will go to?
mrsbat
They chose a child then asked the key person to basically talk them through their journey so far, wanting to see and hear about starting points, baseline, if they were behind/ahead in any areas wanting to see documentation of discussions with parents, asking about what the focus was now and what next steps are being planned for etc
barcombeplaygroup
We were inspected last Monday 27th March - the inspector chose two children to track and then observed said children during the course of her inspection. She spoke to both key people. Basically she wanted to see that they really knew their children -she asked about next steps and how they had arrived at these next steps - so they talked through the assessment process that we use and also looked through learning journeys. She said that she also wanted to see that the Learning Journeys reflected the children that she had been tracking. She also asked all staff safeguarding questions. louby loo
also looked through learning journeys. Our wasn't really bothered about our Learning Journey Books - she just looked at our tracking sheets and asked questions about next steps... we don't do a lot of writing/paperwork  :1b Maybe we were lucky with our inspector (last year). She did ask staff about children's next steps though. Admittedly on the day we had no funded 2s, EYPPs or SEN children in. I think we may have stumped her
Guest
Last inspection two years ago was nothing like that.Asked staff some questions but nothing in depth
FSFRebecca
Have you looked at the articles written by Ofsted inspectors? you can find them in the Leadership and Management articles section. They go over the kind of things inspectors will do when they are with you. Ofsted inspection articles. Also, this thread has lots of excellent tips and 'heads up' ideas from settings that have been inspected very recently. Celebrating your inspection. blondie
we were asked to show a funded 2 yr old, eypp and sen - we didnt have sen in that day but she did follow the others - she asked questions as others have said - she also wanted to see how we spent eypp, how we arrived at the reason for this and proof of purchase. Lots of questions about safeguarding, british values etc., -she also asked staff about whistleblowing and where phone numbers ofr s/g team etc were. Am I the only one who thinks that asking for proof of purchase is beyond the remit of an Ofsted inspector?

louby loo
Am I the only one who thinks that asking for proof of purchase is beyond the remit of an Ofsted inspector? Sadly for some of us (with a certain kind of owner ) this would actually be very good question.
