louby loo Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Almost forgot it's Friday! Sunnyday, house sorting it the worst 😢 .... but it does bring back some happy memories along with the sad ones. Froglet, good to hear you had a good catch up with your friend! All I seem to have done this week is eat! Hope everyone else has had a good week too. x 3 Quote
zigzag Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I sorted my mother in laws when she died as the boys couldn’t face it. Amazing how much was kept and fascinating to go through the decades of cuttings from the paper and all the decades worth of funeral orders of service! Keep looking for the glimmers that make you smile. I have everyone coming for afternoon tea tomorrow and then on Sunday we are taking mum and her friend out for dinner, so a nice chilled weekend before next weeks chaos begins! Trying to fit all my domestic cleans in and holiday changeovers from Easter and getting my place ship shape as brother coming to stay when we go away! I cannot wait to step on that ship and sail away next weekend! Have a terrific weekend all. 2 1 Quote
sunnyday Posted April 10 Author Posted April 10 Good morning - 'tis Friday How is everyone? Dear zigzag - happy, happy cruising - hope that you have a wonderful time x Another very busy week - holiday granddog was picked up late Tuesday always feels so strange when she has gone.. looked after two youngest grandchildren on Wednesday, not that they need a lot of 'looking after' now, yesterday was knitting group which was lovely I really enjoy that couple of hours of female company...and then here we are it's Friday again! Our solicitor has been driving me mad - so many mistakes in her figures for probate - I assume she is charging her £200.00 per hour for every time that I have had to 'correct' her 🤦♀️ there is no excuse really - I have been looking after MIL's finances for the past 10 years and I presented everything to the solicitor beautifully (if I do say so myself🤣) - think we have had a breakthrough this week - hope so or there is a danger that I might self-combust! We haven't made any progress at all with operation 'sort-out' this week - must, must just get on with it - perhaps we should make that our plan for this weekend... Super weather - particularly Wednesday and yesterday - whoop! Hope the weekend is kind to all x Quote

Super weather - particularly Wednesday and yesterday - whoop! Hope the weekend is kind to all x Morning all. Sorry to here stressful solicitor times. Selling my aprents house although actually easy/straightward as things go - but it was clealy obvious that our buyer was using a non local convency company, even though the buyer where localish. Some of the questions were down right weird! Question about who maintained the 'unmade' road 😂..... it was a pretty normal house in a normal road. They also kept asking about the planning permission for the rear extension - the house had no rear extension! 🤷♀️ Had a busy week, both with grandchildren, and days out ourselves. Possibly too much eating out! I really do need to do some serious decluttering though. Every night I say 'tomorrow is the day' then next morning life happens and nothing gets done. Hope everyones well, and have a good weekend all..... especially Zigzag on your cruise - think of us when you have a cocktail (or drink of your choice🍹) x 1 Quote
Froglet Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Happy Friday! Have an amazing trip zigzag! Glad you other two have had some grandchildren time! I have had a week where I finally set my mind to properly sorting out the spare room. I’ve interspersed it with lots of crochet breaks but I’m making some good progress. I have various piles to take to the tip and charity shops plus a mountain of paperwork to sort through. The last couple of days I have been moving old photographs from broken albums into some new ones. It’s been a lovely trip down memory Lane! I told myself that I really needed to not do any baking for a bit (more specifically not eating the results of it!) but I am feeling so tempted today! 1 1 Quote
zigzag Posted April 12 Posted April 12 You are so kind to remember. We travelled up to Southampton yesterday and have stayed in a lovely air b and b overnight. But imagine my sunrise when my son from London and his girlfriend turned up to surprise me for a night. I was totally gobsmacked and now understand the true meaning of that word! Cannot believe my husband surprised me like that! Just sat killing time now until 3pm boarding! 1 Quote

sunnyday Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 Good morning - 'tis Friday Wonder how our dear zigzag is getting on with her Cruise - hope she is having the best time! I have two youngest grandchildren with me for the day - currently they are playing 'Looney Tunes' hopscotch (don't ask) on my patio! Happy days! Can't believe that the 'summer terms' are coming up - will I ever stop thinking 'terms' - don't think so! No big plans for the weekend - although we really must carry on with 'Operation sort out' - think I said that last Friday and it didn't happen 🤦♀️ Have a lovely weekend all x 3 1 Quote
louby loo Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Morning all. 'Operation Sort Out' I love that term.... think I'm going to adopt it as my new mantra!😁 EVERY night i think I'll make a start tomorrow- however, tomorrow never comes 😭 Hope Zigzag is having a good time. I've been back at work a week, and I'm tired already! Homewise we have a very busy week ahead with something 'on' every day - nothing exciting I hasten to add. have a good weekend everyone xx 2 Quote
Froglet Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Hello everyone! My own operation sort out has been steadily progressing. Dad came with some tools to help break down some furniture to take it to the tip. I went again on a different day with a load of 'small electricals'. It is nowhere near done but I can see progress. I've had a couple of days supply in new schools this week. One in reception which was nice and then one which was meant to be in KS1 but on arrival was in KS2 which I've never taught. It was fine but I was a little frazzled at the end of the day. I finally defrosted my freezer and have started restocking it. My latest blanket is progressing well although my sofa where I have the yarn is a sea of pink. I don't always put it away as each square uses several colours and it's quicker to just have it to hand. It's turned cold and wet outside after a lovely afternoon - I think it's going to be a beans on toast and ginger cake with custard kind of day! Have a good weekend everyone. 2 1 Quote

zigzag Posted Tuesday at 13:21 Posted Tuesday at 13:21 The Sagrada Basillica in Barcalona. The most amazing building I have ever seen. We also went 214 feet up the tower! 1 Quote
zigzag Posted Tuesday at 13:23 Posted Tuesday at 13:23 (edited) We visited three out of the five cinque terre villages in Italy. Just stunning. Edited Tuesday at 13:23 by zigzag 1 Quote
zigzag Posted Tuesday at 13:27 Posted Tuesday at 13:27 Took myself off to the sunset bar for a cheeky cocktail whilst husband was watching his team play football in the pub bar. Seemed like the sensible thing to do! IMG_8323.mov 1 Quote
zigzag Posted Tuesday at 13:29 Posted Tuesday at 13:29 Rome yesterday but it was not a vibe! Only arranged excursion we have done and never again. But we have done Rome on holiday before so not a disaster! 1 Quote

Cait Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Had a bizarre morning! Was just unloading the dishwasher for a mug to pour my tea into (other mugs are available, but this is a ‘bucket’ for my morning brew) when I heard the binmen. ‘Ah’ I thought, ‘I’ll go and bring that bin back in now, then it’s out of the way’. So off I went to get it. Walking past the garden bin, I realised that those will be collected tomorrow, so why not do a bit of ‘time and motion’ and take that one out and bring the empty one back at the same time! Grabbing the bin and walking past the flowerbed I spotted a couple of weeds so bent down to pull those, to put straight in the bin, you understand. Now, like many folk I know, I keep a handy trowel in the flowerbed, so squatting down, I retrieved that and got to work. A couple of hours later, the bed was weeded, fed with pelleted chicken manure, watered and the snapdragons planted out. The hosepipe was fixed, and the old bit coiled away and binned. I went back inside to wash my hands and put some hand cream on, because of course I’d not had gloves on. The dishwasher was still half emptied, the pot of tea was cold - and I’d still not brought the ruddy bin back in! 1 1 Quote
