Book publishers

I wrote a children's story for a new writers' competition, but didn't win. The prize was to have it published, but they were overwhelmed with entries.

So, the thing is, I have this book sitting here, and I'd like to have it published, or at least considered. Does anyone have any experience of this, or any ideas? My friend has her Maths books published on Kindle, but I'm not sure about doing that.

Well there's self publishing or the send out to agents, or send direct to publishers.

You can find submission details on most publishers websites.

A good guide is this book

I've had some positive responses from agents but none have taken anything up yet. I'm now in a small critique group so we get together to give feedback and that helps.

To be honest, the route to traditional publishing is a real slog - it's a business and the story may be fabulous, but if not commercial then it will be hard to get representation.
