Commitee DBS checks etc

 Share

Recommended Posts

It's been so long since I last did this, and things have changed a little - so, what checks do new commitee members need - they used to complete EY2's - is that still the case ? Or is it DBS now ? Does the chair still have a suitable persons check ?

Thanks !

Hi

Like Mouse 63, I have also recently submitted DBS for new committee members. The process was:

Submit EY2 via ofsted online (they receive a letter to say its in progress etc)

Complete forms on DBS online and pay (it was £8.10 for committee members as volunteers, my setting pays)

Paper form - verify documents (send copies of documentation)

Then wait for confirmation and certificate is posted out within 6 weeks.

The registered peson (our chair person) has to have a suitable person check.

Hope this helps

Carol

Sorry to bring this up again......but a member of staff is leaving us and joining a new setting next week, mentioned today they'd done her DBS, now I'm totally confused again (just when I thought I had it all sorted) she hasn't had to do an EY2 for the setting, and did ours about 2.5 years ago, now I only thought crb's done after June,13 could be registered with DBS .....have I got this all wrong ???

She shouldn't need an ey2 and the dbs is the new crb...she would need a new one for a new setting (unless she has a transferable one!)

Interested in this thread too... Ofsted were informed that I had taken over as manager but only via telephone. Seems like it should have been via a EY3 form from what to are all saying ? I haven't had an interview etc so should I expect it now ?

Eyfs1966 when we changed manager in 2009 it did and they inspected within 3 weeks of my start date however I think it was more to do with having 4 managers in a year rather than me starting.

However our setting has had huge changes in the last 12 months going from charity to company. I tried to change times with ofsted to be told it had to be named person who rang, she did and withdrew at same time but failed to notify me. I rang for something else to be told I was operating without a names person and actually we wee running with an invalid certificate as they had not notified them of the change over from charity to company. Massive panic stations in Nov 13 when this happened but got all forms filled in and we were registered in Dec and despite last inspection being sept 2009 we have still not has an inspection even though we had a change of manager from April 2012 to jan 13 while I was on Mat leave and we were told would be inspected within 7 months and were still waiting

Just to add when we had a new manager Ofsted came out and interviewed her but no inspection of the setting was done, so we're still overdue.

If you swap chair within a committee does the new chair need another dbs if had a crb done within 3 years?

The chair doesn't need to be the nominated person, although they do need to complete an EY2 form. I am our groups nominated person and I am Manager. We change committee to often now for the chair to be the nominated person- also our chair has so little too do with us now.

ok - so to clarify !

each new commitee member to complete EY2 - they will then receive email with link to complete DBS online ( how is this paid for ? does the commitee member pay for it themselves then the setting reimburses them -or is the setting invoiced ?)

EY3 to be completed to inform Ofsted that some of the old commitee have left.

Does the chairperson have to be the registered person -i feel it may be better for the senior person at the setting to be the registered person ?

No, it is most commonly the chair, but I am the manager at my setting and have just become the nominated person.

I am the nominated person of our charity run incorporated pre-school, as the supervisor of the setting and the main person of contact with Ofsted.

Our Committee are the registered person.

Why can they not simplify the whole process at Ofsted, as it appears from many posts on here for DBS, EY2, EY3 etc it is more complicated now than ever before.:
