Guest Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I have just been laughing to myself as I practise my new hobby. I am learning burlesque and was thinking what would parents think if they could see me stripping off my evening gloves with my teeth and practising my bosom heaving and was wondering if anyone else has any other interesting hobbies which parents would be surprised to hear about. One if my other hobbies is also one which I don't advertise to parents, I collect victorian mourning jewellery which commemorate the deaths of children by preserving locks of their hair in brooches and rings. When I applied to university my (soon to be) tutors were horrified and suggested that I didn't include it in any future early years job applications! Quote
finleysmaid Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 how fab! i'm afraid my talents are nowhere near as interesting! Quote
Guest p0rridge Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Oh no, my partner wants to know when I'm starting such a wonderful hobby. Quote
Rea Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 No hobbies unfortunately. Burlesque sound fab, there's a him bar in Birmingham that has classes upstairs, free gin on arrival to help with the inhibitions! Quote
Froglet Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I like my hobbies but I don't think anyone could call them inappropriate. I'd really like to find one though... Quote
Smiles Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Victorian mourning jewerelly sounds interesting. I enjoy doing my family tree and am fascinated by the Victorian photographs of dead people weird I know. Quote

Guest Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Victorian mourning jewerelly sounds interesting. I enjoy doing my family tree and am fascinated by the Victorian photographs of dead people weird I know. It is fascinating and also came from looking at family tree and my husband interest in local first world war casualties. I only buy pieces which are engraved and then we research the family together. ......And p0rridge, funnily enough, my husband has paid for my burlesque course! has never even offered to pay for any of my other hobbies Quote
Inge Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I love to walk through church yards and cemeteries... can spend many a happy hour wandering through, reading the gravestones.. think it comes from mum who often took us to Highgate cemetery for a walk! 3 Quote
Rea Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I don't do anything inappropriate but I'm begining to think I should, I'm quite envious. I shall start looking 2 Quote
Panders Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 How about belly. Dancing Rea - not inappropriate, but a start to something more .... Quote
Guest Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 ooh pole dancing is hard work, not sure I have the strength to pull myself upside down. And definitely not as glamourous as burlesque- whats not to love about corsets, feather boas, satin shoes, scarlet lippy and stockings. Its making me feel fabulous at fifty. Quote
Rea Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Pole dancing!! No thanks Sunny. I have a vague, drunken memory from many years ago that I never want to repeat Belly dancing? No thanks Panders, don't need reminding its there! But thanks guys Quote

Panders Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Perfect! Will she need an agent(s) do you think? Obviously - the ferrets have most of the talent that's easy to work out so they can be given fish paste as their reward, and we can splitting rest up between us, Rea will be eternally grateful 1 Quote
