I'm currently trying to read a biography of Florence Nightingale for my book group, there are too many words and it's quite heavy going so am mixing it up with Alex Rider and Artemis Fowl books! narnia Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 (edited) I guess I am simply a lot older than you young striplings. Have heard a lot, lived a lot, learned a little and have a BIG imagination seriously though, there wasn't anything in any of the three FSOG that I hadn't heard of. I have finished with the books now......anyone want them?? let me know, I'll happily post them on ( there are no underlined bits, or pages earmarked!! ) Edited July 24, 2012 by narnia 2 Quote

Froglet Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I'm currently part way through a book one of my children gave me as an end of year present: Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. So far it's absolutely beautiful, just magical to read. Quote
suebear Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Liked the Night Circus too. Preferred book 2 to book 1 of Shades of Grey - the characters all deserved a slap in the first one (no pun intended!!!!) Have just read the Hunger Games trilogy and couldn't put it down - I had to reach a happy ending Favourite book of late though has to be "Pirates and the Communists" very very funny Quote

All he did was tell me off for moaning about how bad they were!! Stop reading them then he said! But i have to finish any book I buy whether I paid or it was free! I am hitting the big 50 next month and they really didnt do anything for me (must be getting too old, lol ) Thought there could have been a great strory there but the other parts were too much it wasnt just mummy porn as stated in reviews (and I not a prood ) although everyone at pool was reading it of all ages and sexes!! lashes2508 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I too have avoided the temptation of reading them - possibly because i like to be different and never just read books because everyone else are. I have just started book 2 of the Hunger games series - they are actually my son's and because i ran out of books to read ( cant read same book twice) i borrowed and got to say they are getting me hooked - a little slow to start but then definately captivating. 1 Quote
Froglet Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I read the Hunger Games trilogy at the start of the holiday - loved them! 1 Quote

Inge Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) Reviving this as so much was about 50 shades.... and read this today so had to share.no idea who wrote it came without a by line so anon.... enjoy... FIFTY SHADES OF GREY - (a husbands point of view) The missus bought a Paperback down Asda, Saturday, I had a look inside her bag; .....T'was "fifty shades of grey". Well I just left her to it, And at ten I went to bed. An hour later she appeared; The sight filled me with dread... In her left she held a rope; And in her right a whip! She threw them down upon the floor, And then began to strip. Well fifty years or so ago; I might have had a peek; But Mabel hasn't weathered well; She's eighty four next week!! Watching Mabel bump and grind; Could not have been much grimmer. And things then went from bad to worse; She toppled off her Zimmer! She struggled back upon her feet; A couple minutes later; She put her teeth back in and said, That i must dominate her. Now if you knew our Mabel, You'd see just why I spluttered, I'd spent two months in traction For the last complaint I'd uttered. She stood there nude and naked Bent forward just a bit I went to hold her, sensual like and stood on her left tit! Mabel screamed, her teeth shot out; My god what had I done!? She moaned and groaned then shouted out: "Step on the other one"!! Well readers, I can't tell no more; About what occurred that day. Suffice to say my jet black hair, Turned fifty shades of Grey........ I Edited January 23, 2013 by Inge 5 Quote
