Grace Before Lunch

Recommended Posts

We always sing grace before lunch, and I'm looking for some alternatives so the children can choose from a selection.

Does anyone else do this? and what do you say/sing?

Thank you!

We do and ours is:

For what we are about to receive

May the Lord make us truly thankful

Amen

Am trying to remember the one we did in a previous school which was a singing one - will come back if it comes to mind!

The Lord is good to me

And so I thank the Lord

For giving me, the things I need

The sun, the rain and the Appleseed,

The Lord is good to me

I'm sure a google for Johhny Appleseed will give the tune. you tube probably has it.

Thank you for the world so sweet

thank you for the food we eat

Thank you for the birds that sing

Thank you God for everything

That was the one used when I was at primary school! Completely forgotten until now. :1b

Not one for the children but I read this at a Christmas lunch one year

Thank you for teaching me gratitude with this delicious bread and meat.

Thank you for teaching me patience while waiting 'til time to eat.

Thank you for teaching me faith, expecting food and never having doubts.

Thank you for teaching me suffering by providing these brussel sprouts.

Thank you for the birds that sing

We use this one too with a slight variation

Thank you for the world so sweet, boom, boom (clap hands)

thank you for the food we eat, yum, yum (rubbing tummies)

Thank you for the birds that sing aling aling (hands moving to denote chattering)

Thank you God for everything (make a circle with your hands) boom, boom, yum, yum, sing aling, amen

Children will often choose this when given a choice.
