Panders Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Cait's fruit based song on a different thread got me thinking - at the end of lunch club, sometimes we have a good few minutes spare, children are ready to go etc. but not ready to open the door yet. Would like to use some familiar songs with the children but new funny lyrics, such as Twinkle twinkle chocolate bar My dad drives a rusty car etc. anymore I can add to my collection anyone?

Guest Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Row row row your boat gently down the river if you see a polar bear don't forget to shiver (and everyone shivers) I did have quite a few variations on this, obviously including a crocodile, but I can't think of any at the mo...

Guest Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Ooo! Just found this http://bussongs.com/songs/row_row_row_your_boat.php
Upsy Daisy Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Twinkle twinkle chocolate barMy dad drives a rusty car You might want to be careful with that one Panders. It has racist connotations where I was brought up.
Cait Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 We've done loads to "The wheels on the bus" the dinosaurs in the woods go stomp stomp stomp (fists banging knees), or in the sky go flap flap flap. the bucket on the digger goes up and down the wheels on the train go clatter clatter clatter ("Get your piston rods ready") piston arm action at the side of the body the rockets in the sky go whoosh whoosh whoosh (one for bonfire night, as well as lots of other firework whizzes and bangs) all night long the dogs at the pub (behind preschool - sigh) go woof woof woof ALL (B*****Y) DAY LONG!!!! (haha) the spiders in the house go creep creep creep (tickle neighbour) we even had a laugh with 'the phones on the train went (nokia ring) all journey long, but thankfully that one has passed out of memory of the children! lots following a farm visit with associated noises 'cows on the farm, pigs etc' ten green bottles is also a useful tune - five big dinosaurs playing in the breeze, five big dinosaurs playing in the breeze and if one big dinosaur hid between the trees (cover eyes with hands) there'd be ..... etc
SazzJ Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 We sing Twinkle, twinkle Butterfly How I wounder where you fly Up above the trees so tall Like a sunshine in the sky Twinlke twinlke butterfly How I wounder where you fly Also 1,2,3,4.5, Once I caught a snake alive 6,7,8,9,10 then I let it go again Why did you let it go? Because it bit my little toe Which toe did it bite, this little toe on my right

Also like the baa baa ones as this is always the first song the chlidren say , when I say, what shall we sing today?

HappyMaz Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Also like the baa baa ones as this is always the first song the chlidren say , when I say, what shall we sing today? Ros Bayley was talking about this at our early years conference a few weeks ago. She says she uses a song bag for just this reason, because every child wants to sing baa baa black sheep or twinkle twinkle when asked. So she thrust her song bag towards a practitioner sitting at the front and she pulled out... a shiny silvery star finger puppet!
Cait Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 we have a song mug with all the titles written on strips of paper and every now and then we pass the mug round so we refresh the 'song base' a bit. It's also helful on Friday singalongs when Grans, uncles etc have come to join in and don't have a clue what songs to choose but I digress .................... sorry Panders
Guest lou73 Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Hi, with my class i talk about things we would never see or do on a bus....i.e have a shower, go to the toilet ( which techically we do on coaches I know), take on a dinosaur.....we then talk about the people we see on a bus, grannies, driver and children etc....I then explain we are going on the silly bus! Where silly things hapen. the children then decide what happens and to who as we have already given them clues....we then sing for example The driver on the silly bus, takes a bath, Takes a bath, takes a bath, The driver on the silly bath, takes a bath, all night long.... My class love this song and its good as it gets them talking.......hope i have explained well and its useful. Lou X
