sunnyday
Hi all I have a contract with O2 - now time to get a new 'phone from them! Keeping to my same tariff.....I can choose from the following: HTC Smart LG Optimus Nokia 5800 Nokia 031 Nokia 6700 slide Nokia C5 Samsung Genio Samsung Monte Sony Ericcson Elm Have had a quick look at some of them online - but would love to have your recommendations...or your 'definitely don't haves'! I do know that I would like a phone with a QWERTY keyboard - I'm hopeless at texting - sure I would be better with a keyboard! Cait
Haha. I had a querty one and actually found it surprisingly difficult as my fingers were more used to where the little keys should be! My son has the HTC and loves it!
Inge
from Which reviews and testing.... HTC Smart Pros: Reasonably priced for a touchscreen model, long-lasting battery Cons: Features and processor can't compare with those on many other smartphones LG Optimus- not found.. Nokia 5800 Pros: Large touchscreen, outstanding music player Cons: Very little, internet use drains the battery pretty quickly Nokia 031- not found... Nokia 6700 slide Pros: Pretty portable, access to Ovi application store Cons: Short talktime, small screen Nokia C5 Pros: Easy to use, great battery Cons: Poor headphones, small screen there were 2 Samsung Genio, so put both... Samsung Genio Qwerty Pros: Full keyboard, great price, easy to use Cons: Small, low resolution screen, slow web speeds Samsung Genio Touch -a best buy.. Pros: Great-value touchscreen phone Cons: Not 3G Samsung Monte Pros: Good value touchscreen model Cons: Poor camera, phone struggled to open some web pages, no virtual Qwerty keyboard Sony Ericcson Elm Pros: Green credentials, light and portable, Google Maps. Cons: Screen is quite small and not the easiest to view. I dont use any but a basic phone so unable to comment on any, but above is from Which? and may help or confuse! janebe
I've got the Nokia 5800 and I love it. Positives - great music playback (I use mine instead of an MP3), very easy to use (like all Nokias), has QWERTY keyboard or typical phone one or handwriting recognition for texting, super little camera...it's just all so great! Negatives - definitely goes through batteries quicker than my old phone which didn't have a touch screen (but it's definitely worth the trouble - I just charge it every other day) and very rarely it has frozen (like a computer would but easily sorted as I just take the battery out!) I've been able to download loads of free games and apps so my kids always ask to 'play on my phone' when we're out! Oh, and there are free maps for life which is good in emergencies! It's very robust - I've dropped it so many times but there's not a mark on it (it's definitely worth getting screen protectors) Edited October 18, 2010 by janebe
Cait
Jane - is that the one that the wi-fi is set to always 'on'? If you can switch off the apps you aren't using the battery lasts a lot longer apparently

Rea
I hate phones, particulary the ones that do eveything. So I'm quite happy getting to know my new sony ericsson walkman. It was free, which is a bonus with a great package of freebies which is a bigger bonus.
