The Gingerbread Man Theme

Hello everyone.

Does anyone have some fabulous ideas for the theme of the Gingerbread man??? Im making ginger brown playdough, acting out the story and making gingerbread men. Just need some more... It's only for one week xxx

How about gingerbread house (Lakeland Limited have kits)

 

Huge bits of paper to draw round each other and make into big gingerbread man display?

 

There must be something with the animals and the river etc, but I can't think just now

Sequencing pictures and props of who followed him. Maths, quarter, half, whole. Shapes to use for nose, eyes, mouth. Dipping biscuits in water to see what happens.

When we did gingerbread men, when we went to the oven they had run away and left a picture of where thy had gone, Children then had to follow the clues to find them, we had 4 clues to follow in the setting before finding them again!

........and that's why I always take loads and loads of that lovely free brown paper from Ikea!!!

A small world works well and I've attached recipe, poem and figures for magnet board.It's also a good story for making a story sack.

How do you make brown play dough???

 

 

powered paint, ready mix paint, liquid food colouring mixed seperately first (orange and green), ground coffee, gravy browning or cinnamon OR you can buy small pots of HIGHLY concenrated paste food colouring. More expensive but last ages as you use a cocktail stick to add very small amounts.Its great for getting deep rich colours. If you use bottled red because your mixing it with white flour you get a pinky red, a paste red will give you a Santa red.

 

Not used this online shop I usually go to a bricks and mortar cake decorating shop but this is what I mean

OOOhhh thanks biccy..... I'm going to try that = sounds ideal. Been wondering how to make different coloured playdough (other than the little bottles you find in supermarkets) for ages. Many thanks. :oxD
