Morning all.

Well today is the start of our 2 day whole school inspection.

I have already been told that the private provision and after school will be done again as they are now under the schools umbrella.......

We didn't get long to rest on our "Outstanding" grade for nursery education did we when we were last inspected in May 08.

My worry here is that for the half of my job that is with the LA nursery (I go private so to speak at 11.30) we won't be graded alone but as part of the EYFS and we don't have an early years leader!!!!!!!!!!

In some ways I don't think it has done us any harm, but I think we are supposed to have one!!

I also have a colleague who is so stressed she is driving me demented!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't feel stressed outwardly but I am obviously nervous and have been up since 6am after waking aboput 10 times to check I hadn't overslept!!!!!!

Actually I just read this message back to myself and now I don't really know what to worry about!!!!!!!!

I will just do what I always do and try to be calm.

Our head told usthat as a whole school..... we know we are good.

The local authority know we are good

so lets get Ofsted to say we are good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Later guys.....

Oh, I can feel another bathroom trip coming on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bye.

PS This inspection thing is so much better when they just arrive. 2 days notice gives plenty of times for nerves to overtake you!!!!!!

Good luck to you all. Keep calm and smile, I am sure you will be fine. x

I cannot tell you all how gruelling the last 2 days have been.

I feel worn out, mentally and physically.

Apparently I am currently not supposed to say anything re our result but just to say as a whole school we did OK.

I can't believe the weather we have had!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday county wide closures of schools in our area and we did wonder what would happen with the inspection.

There were worries re it being cancelled entirely and re done when they could fit it in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fortunately they had gathered enough evidence on day one of inspection from parents, children, staff and from observations so yesterday was governors, the deputy and paperwork.

Majority of staff were in school from 7.30 despite the awful weather and we were still there worrying at 4pm.

We finally got our grade at 4.30pm when to be honest I thn felt like crying.

No individual grades or comments given to areas / key stages but truthfully all we wanted to know by then (as things hadn't looked good) was if we were heading to special measures.

Which we weren't.

YAY!!!!!!

When I am allowed (!!) will tell you more.

Thanks for your support.

You know what yesterday proved regardless of the O people?

It showed us what a TEAM we are, and even in the midst of the worry yesterday we laughed.... in fact I cried through laughter at one point and I think the fact that no one asked how their area had done once we knew school was OK was a testament to that team spirit.

Mindyou as a last comment....................

Couldn't we have had enough snow for a closure today????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think we deserved an extra rest day!!!!!!!!!!

Scarlettangel, I really feel for you. I can feel the stress and tension that you went through myself.

Poor mrsbat certainly had a gruelling time too. To me ,it sounds like her inspector just nit-picked. Regardless of how fantastic we know our settings are, we still get stressed and panic when we know Ofsted are due, and I'm actually begining to think that some of their inspectors get a buzz out of it!! (I say some because there are exceptions who try to make it as painless as possible).

For goodness sake, all we want is to be left alone to do what we do best, and that is look after our children. When my children were little the 3 things that I wanted from the playschool was for them to provide an environment where first and foremost they could learn to socialise, be safe and be happy.

I have to say I am actually appalled when I hear from professional practitioners like mrsbat and scarlettangel and hundreds of others who have endured the visit from Ofsted only to leave them upset, stressed, and sometimes even doubting themselves that they are actually doing a fantastic job. It would be a tad easier to bear if we were paid a decent wage for what we do instead of the peanuts.

Thanks for listening, you're the only ones I can talk to. I've given up talking to my husband, who thinks I should have packed it in years ago. I do sometimes wonder who in their right mind would run a playschool.

4 words just to sum it up for me... OFSTED PLEASE BACK OFF!

HEAR HEAR!!! or for goodness sake get a communal song sheet!

Now you're being ridiculous Cait - you know you have more chance of flying to the moon than of finding two Ofsted inspectors who give the same answer to any given question! :o

Well done scarlettangel - what shines out of your very tense post is your commitment and dedication. Be sure to celebrate this weekend - heaven knows you deserve it!

Well done scarlettangel, we had enough snow for the schools to close, but I wouldn't call it a rest day with the three of mine brawling all day(and I don't mean the smash bros. kind of brawling either!)
