Rafa
Hi, anyone more savvy than me able to say how best to add this increase to April to Augusts monthly wages! As I have very carefully worked out 12 monthly payments......can I just add: Total pay + 30p x hours in that month? Thank you
Cait
Take how many more hours they are still to work till August, multiply by 30p and divide by months remaining?
thumperrabbit
Out of interest has this increase meant your other staff have had to have an increase in pay?
FSFRebecca
We haven't been able to do that - we couldn't afford to do that last year either. We explained that our pay rates reflect qualifications and the gov't rates reflect age. We showed staff the differences it made and asked if they would prefer to take the higher rates throughout (and retain the difference between the qualification pay rates) or if they would prefer to have less staff? It wasn't done in a threatening way - it was a proper conversation - we pay staff to have release time in nursery and we pay for coffeee breaks and time when assessors are visiting and staff need to be 'out of numbers' - all these times are covered by additional staff who are there as 'extra hands' all day. In a staff team of 16 working at any one time we have additional pairs of hands who have other roles. One is our housekeeper, and we have two apprentices - none of these have been included in our ratios - these would all go if if we had to maintain the differentials. Staff opted for more hands ... less money.
lsp
All our staff will have an increase this time but I feel that this is the next area that will need to be reviewed with regard to our sustainability.
FSFRebecca
We did an 'across the board' pay rise of 3% in October - this was based on qualifications
donnaduff1
I don't think it's just the national living wage going up I think all the minimum wage amounts per hour are increasing so if any staff are on minimum wage they will also get a pay rise
thumperrabbit
The working wage staff are catching up the other staff, but becuase there isn't enough money there's no pay any increase for the rest of the staff
