A grandparent made us a knitted nativity set years ago, it still comes out every year, someone else did the donkey as it didn’t have one ….it is so big in comparison to the figures they could have all rode to Bethlehem on it 🤣 

A good first ‘half a week’ back, only a few tears, easily distracted, and no red flags so far 🤞

Snap!🤞🤞.  ....and doesn't it feel good. Staff have come back genuinely recharged 😊

However, whilst your here I'd like to pick your brain - your end of year sport event went sooooo well 😁 I'd now like to ask what you do at Christmas please?

Previously we've done a short concert type event just for our older children, we had to totally abadon that last year!. Last year we tried a 'stay and play' type event - it was ok but a tad manic... and actually the parents were the problem not the children! 

 

Any suggestions? 

PS - question open to anyone with any ideas please! 😊

PPS. I did try and edit the 'C' with Winter Festivities, but my laptop has decided to throw a hissy fit (maybe it doesn't like the 'C' word either 🤷🏼‍♀️)

louby - we used to have a 'C word' party - complete with a red suited gentleman (!) to give out pressies - parents very kindly made the food - was always a lovely way to end the term - oh and an entertainer - always completely 'stress free'!

Obviously you need a 'budget' for pressies and entertainment - not sure if that would work for you...

I’m pleased to hear it Louby 😊 

We gave up on our traditional Nativity play and now have a children’s party, inviting (telling) the parents to be back 15 mins before we want it to end and sing a few festive (😉) songs.

We change our role play into a stable for the last couple of weeks with all the Nativity costumes, props and story books, take photos, putting them together in the story order using iMovie with Away in a Manager playing over it.

We do do a party with all the usual, including an entertainer etc.  We also to do a little 'something' for our 'Leavers' (older ones) them for about 30 mins or so, then the youngers arrive for the party.   It was only ever a few festive songs - some acted out, but even that was far to much for last years group.

That said, we might be able to abanded that this year, if we have no past  family siblings this year - as in past parents that expect the concert.  Need to check that out! Might just be the answer.
