Glad to hear that Sunnyday. Thought of you when Cranbrook were on the news this morning and hoped it wasn’t your area.

How is your mum doing zigzag?

She had a bad weekend  with pain and it really dragged her down. But that has stopped now thank goodness. She still cannot shut her eye, so is off to an eye clinic tomorrow, hopefully they can make it comfortable for her. The face paralysis is no worse, so now have to wait and see what recovery might be.  She is also exhausted and for the first time ever is showing her ninety years. It’s so blooming sad as she was doing so well. I actually had to take her for a scan of her heart today, totally unrelated to all this. The  man doing the scan said her heart is very strong and he sees people in their 50s and 60s who don’t have such a good heart.

Good morning - 'tis Friday

Not sure that I have any news really...I am enjoying the dip in temperature - I am not 'built' for 30+ degree heat!

Hope that the weekend is kind to all x

I'm enjoying the temperature change too Sunnyday. I have had a last minute house guest - a friend's dog so have been doing twice daily walks and really enjoying the freshness in the air - especially first thing.

Zigzag - how's your mum getting on?

I've been in to school for a few hours to help set classrooms up for September and have made a coffee cake - I haven't made one for ages and had a sudden taste for it - I may have eaten far too much of it.

What I haven't done is any of the house sorting out that I'd planned so feel I must do some of that next week.

Have a lovely weekend all!

Afternoon all. 😊

Well, I've done a few things this week - just can't remember what at the moment, but i know involved coffee and cake!😂

Only another week before I go back to work 😮 I have acheived nothing this summer!

Froglet, you have another week or so.... I'm sure you'll get yourself sorted 😊

Zigzag, hope you're mum is feeling a little better each day.💐

Sunnyday - I'm not good in the heat either!

Have a good weekend eveyone xx

Seconded!! It's only since I stopped being full time that I realised just how important a proper break is! Plus you've had coffee and cake and grandchildren time - that is definitely an achievement!

Crumbs how is it 4 weeks ago I last looked in? How have 5 weeks of the holiday gone already? I have mostly spent eaten my way through it in one cafe or another …that will be a shock to the system when back at work 🐷

I’m actually sat here thinking I need to find top 😱

We finally have a hosepipe ban, though I’d given up on watering most things weeks ago, a few spots of rain this week but nothing to shout about,  It sounds like we will make up for the dry spell soon.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the summer, hope your mum makes a quick recovery Zig-Zag, and best wishes to my co-workers starting back soon x

Good morning - 'tis Friday

Goodness another week has just flown by - can't believe that the children are back at school next week...

Hope those that are still working have completed their TDLs and have got their work bags packed 🙃

How sad is the loss of Dolly Parton this week - wonderful lady who spread love and light in a world that seems so full of hatred...

I need to get my hearing checked - here is a conversation that I had with my DIL yesterday:

DIL: did we tell you that ***** was having a trial for 'autistic swimming' she has been accepted

Me: er, no, what do you mean, what is 'autistic swimming'?

DIL: Artistic not autistic

🤣🤣🤣

Hope the (long) weekend is kind to all x

Morning all 😁

Back to work Tuesday - children in Wednesday. Car boot stuffed, bag - somewhere 🤷‍♀️ TDL - lost 😂!!

I have done the things I 'need' to done, and I got my GD playing 'school registers' ....resulting in her sorting all the name tags, making new one etc 😂

I'm actually looking foward to going back this year. We will have no 🤞🤞 I really don't want to jinx it  SENd when we return, or at the very least low level needs. Last year was beyond horrendous.

Had a busy week, doing all the things that didn't get done in the heatwave weather. Not sorting the wardrobe/cupboards - but out having fun!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

PS ...what is 'artistic swimming'... Is it like solo synchronised swimming?

I feel I should confess - I am a very artistic swimmer! 😉

I’ve had a bit of a flat week really - not done much of anything and have just felt a little out of sorts. I’m hoping it’s just a little back to school anxiety and will disappear shortly.

Am going down to my sister’s with mum and dad in about ten minutes - it will be lovely to see them all and catch up. It was probably about 5/6 months ago that we last saw each other.

By the way - have any of you read the ‘Dear Mrs Bird’ books by A J Pearce? Really, really recommend them - funny, moving and satisfying. The paper version is good but if you ever do audiobooks this is one where they have it ‘just right’!

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Ah louby do you remember that I used to send my TDL to you!

So pleased to hear that you are looking forward to going back.

Yep, 'artistic swimming is indeed synchronised swimming - she will be in a 'squad' so not solo...

Yep, my swimming/drowning could be considered artistic too 🤣

Have a lovely time with your sister and mum and dad

I have read just one Dear Mrs Bird book - I think that was on your recommendation - I loved it, will look out for others...

I am currently reading 'The Measure' by Nikki Erlick -extremely thought-provoking

Yes I remember, and that's why longer have them! 😂😂😂

To be honest it's the routine and exercise that I'm most looking forward to 😳

Well done to your GD getting into the sqaud. My daughter used to do synchronised swimming - it was hard!

xx

I’m with you there Louby, a less challenging year would be most welcome 🤞I think we’re starting back with the lowest number on register I’ve known.

We're starting with very low numbers too, although I have had 2 phone calls this week about spaces.

Hope you've managed a good break, or at least a quieter summer. x

It is lovely to hear that someone enjoyed a book I recommended. If you're interested the others (in order after Dear Mrs Bird) are:

Yours Cheerfully

Mrs Porter Calling

Dear Miss Lake

I've had a long time of reading but not having the energy or inclination to read new things. Although Mrs Bird (and the others) aren't a new to me book I have been reading so much more widely recently and find myself getting excited about new books again - it's lovely! And on that note - The Eights by Joanna Miller was another good one!
