narnia
ok.............I confess I have reached the age where I can claim my state pension. I thought this would be easy, BUT hubby seems to think I won't get a pension in my own right, rather it will be a married couples one..............basically, topping up the one he gets! Is that correct..............
Panders
Well Narnia, have you been paying full National Insurance? If you have been you should get one in your own right - they did change something to do with the age/qualifying date a while back though
louby loo
There's a pension checker to the gov.uk site. That will give you a full pension report for you. I keep meaning to do mine - but I think you have to fill it in print it off then post it! ...So I haven't got round to doing it yet.
louby loo
Here is the form - Although I can see it's Feb15 - so there could be a newer version. (I really need to add this to my TDL - and actually do it!) br19-feb-2015-interactive.pdf
lsp
I phoned HMRC up and asked them to send me a forecast of what I was likely to get when the time comes, however old I will need to be by then!

tish501
I retired last April 2015 at 64.....only EVER paid lower stamp in 70s and 80s,as had to wait 13 painful years to have my daughter,so wasn't worth paying 'full'stamp....then childminded from home to be with my children.....then worked part-time while they were at school....so never really had full contributions for my pension.....then for past 12 years as owner of the nursery ...self-employed....so when my forecast came I was a few years short of the Full pension...but checked and you can claim so many years being at home bringing your family up..think it is called Home responsibilities thingy.....check it out if your forecast is less than you thought...I get the same as my hubby....good luck with your forecast Narnia xx
