Hi!!

This is my first post so getting to grips using this brilliant forum.

I have recently started a new job as supervisor at pack-away preschool. We are based within a church and they have no internet line or connection. My manager has said they are hoping to install but I feel this may take some time! has anyone got any ideas on using a computer without actually connecting to the internet that children could access for 2-4 years?

I have just purchased a digital camera for children to use and we have other resources such as light box, torches and wind up toys - is this enough technology?? I would love some feedback on what others have in there setting!

Many thanks :)

Hello Jesstom, and welcome!

There is a lot of software out there for pre-school age children. We use a lot of 2Simple software which is available on disk, so no internet connection needed. It is good quality and has some great games. We particularly like Maths City.

We are in the same situation as you no direct internet access - as mentioned there is loads of CD/DVD stuff that you can get hold of - at one point TKMAXX was a good source of age appropriate stuff - also don't forget good old PAINT which ours enjoy and comes free. Having said that the children keep trying to touch the laptop screen where their home technology (touch screens and ipads) is far more sophisticated xD
