I wasn't organised enough to think about finleysmaid, would have made more sense but now have things planned for last week :( and the problem now being that if you work the weeks out its only going to give a 37 wk school year ( sept13 - July 14) and were paid for 38,so may have to get staff in but not children from 6th.....

We've been 'burnt' once with the whole 37 week year thingy. We now double/triple check a year in advance.

So is your next term only 11 weeks? We're closing early this term 13th- much to the parents disgust, although when asked if they wanted to pay for the week suddenly they lost interest.... :D

We had the option of late back in Sept, or early finish Dec.

Staff are really happy though as they get an extra week while their children are at school, which is a nice treat.

yes it is only 11 weeks spring term louby loo, and if we finish week early for Easter we will be 3 weeks off before Easter, as we're back on the tues following Easter mon, would be much better if they worked the funded 38weeks out over a school year rather than apr to apr financial year.

have just read my new funding pack that came yesterday and we have to count the last 4 days of our spring term as allocation in summer term .....so we will be paid 13 weeks summer but only run a 12 week term as they will already owe us one wk that we did extra in spring term......talk about b****y confusing :/

That often used to happen to us... had 3 or 4 days paid in the summer terms funding because of when Easter fell and the way terms were broken up..

the added complication was that any children that were claiming funding and starting with us after the break in fact were entitled to be there for those few odd days before the break.. or they would not be receiving their full entitlement.. that was so difficult for all concerned, children, staff and parents..

always thought it was a stupid way to work things out.. made it easy for them though... not us who have to implement it .

Hadn't even thought about implication for children due to start after Easter.....hopefully none will be due funding, but then i suppose really we should refund paid fees for those 4 days for children who become eligible summer'14.....as when they get added to sum14 they've already attended some hours at end of spr'14 that we have already charged parents for ......have they thought this through ?
