Hi

A group of our children were talking about their favourite colours, the cars their parents have and the pets they have.

Where would you put this in development matters?

I was thinking UW- people and communities 30-50 months- Knows some of the things that make them unique, and can talk about some of the similarities and differences in relation to friends or family?

I'd be inclined to go more for PSED ScSa 30-50. Talking freely about own home and community or C&L L&A 30-50 listen to others when conversation interests them. C&L S 22-36 using language as a powerful means of sharing experiences and thoughts. It all depends on the context, the age of the children and what actually was said, and how. How much of it was adult prompted and how much just spontaneous chit chat.

It was all spontaneous chit chat, started from looking out the window with binoculars and seeing cars and then spotted a cat?

Doesn't it also depend on what band they are in to start with as well as what aspect? The same language can mean different things at different stages such as reads books.
