SueJ Posted August 19, 2011 Share Posted August 19, 2011 Have seen this and found it as you say really thought provoking - especially liked the analagy with batching the children as though they are some kind of product - makes you look at the whole system with a critical eye! I took the liberty of emailing it out to my staff team and students in my uni group too and they too found it quite an eye opener - there are a few more of these animated talks on the RSA site which are really interesting and although not animated there are loads of Ted Talks videos on a range of subjects that are facinating - I like the marshmallow Ted Talk and will be using this one in one of my staff meetings! I particularly liked the dividing children by age groups as they get older when within pre-school we aim to follow the individuals strengths and interest. Suddenly as they get older they are expected to conform to the system and individuality is not quite as celebrated...... Need to watch again as there was so much to take in.
