Guest Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 chocolate!! Good luck I'm sure everything will be fine!!
Guest Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Hope all goes well, we are currently waiting for the call. At least it will all be out of the way for half-term. Let us know how it goes and what they wanted to see etc. Please!!! Good luck. Jane x
Guest Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Just to say hope all goes well and will be thinking of you. I guess it gets everything over in one week and then you can rest and recover during half term. Try not to panic (although we all do!!!!) and remember the rescue remedy and the wine. Take care of yourself Nicky Sussex
Guest Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 We had Ofsted last week and it was a really positive experience. Our inspector was an early years specialist and v hot on balance of child and adult initiated activities, also accessibility of resources. I am sure you'll be fine - good luck!
Guest Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 UPDATE - DAY 1 So far not too bad!! They tried to observe me this afternoon but i was doing a PE lesson!! Love watching inspectors faces watching how the children are trying to be independent when changing and those children that don't have a clue!! I know i am being observed tomorrow morning as the lady told me today! They seem fine although drilling really deep into SEN!! One of the inspectors are really clued up on it!! I will know more tomorrow and keep people updated!! Thanks for all messages so far.
Guest Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Best wishes for tomorrow, nearly over, glad to hear it's going ok so far. Just chill and switch off tonight for a fresh frame of mind for tomorrow. Peggy p.s. Just thought, wonder what the Inspectors would make of you if you put your fingers in you ears and grinned broadly at feedback time, like the monkey in your pic.
Guest Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Hope it's gone well. Having just done 'getting changed' for the first time with my lot I can well imagine inspectors reactions. One of mine stripped completely - getting into kit and back into uniform. He also thought his shorts was his PE top and managed to get one arm and his head into the legs before we spotted his dilema and intervened! xxxx
Cait Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Hehe. I hope today went well, and look forward to hearing your news when you can tell us!
Guest Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 How did you get on? we had OFSTED this Weds and Thurs too- very interesting new framework I thought! How was it for you?
Guest Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Ofsted was OK!! They really focussed on tight planning!!! Mine was not detailed enough even though my Early Years Assistant, another LSA and I totally understand it!! They spent 30 mins on the Tues. 35 Mins on Wed am and 45 Wed pm!! Other teachers only got 15 mins!!!! Oh well they really didnt understand the new framework all that well and the fact i have only been in Early Years for a year (which i missed the last 6 weeks due to broken ankle!!) wasnt really accounted for in any way!! Oh well it is over now for another few years!! Wish anyone going through it luck and know how you feel. Hope this helps and makes sense!! Thanks for all your support and words of advice.
Upsy Daisy Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Well done. You can breathe a huge sigh of relief now knowing you will be well established and ready for them next time.
Guest Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Just survived ours! It may be reassuring to know that our inspection team were very knowledgable about Early Years. They loved the free flow from inside to outside; were delighted that we had got rid of playtimes and worked 2 two and a half hour sessions; liked the emphasis on child-initiated learning and were generally very supportive. The most difficult thing was trying to convince them that the children come in to our nursery way below, even though they leave reception close to national expectations! They want figures and percentages not words. My advice is to read Ofsted's 'Inspecting the Early Years Foundation Stage' supplementary guidance for inspectors [sept 2009]. Good Luck to anyone else who is going through this.
